Well guess with their expansion, the quality went wayyyy down. Not ever returning. Spider roll used to be delicious and it should be for that price! But the past few times, the batter on the crab or something about it tasted like old grease. However, yesterday was the finale! The crab was like shells only. Could not chew it. I swallowed a small bit and it scratched my throat. It was cut thin and thick. There were little if any of the tiny orange balls. No big claw that makes it cute and a "spider" roll . Server was terrible, acting like it's normal. NO IT IS NOT. Spent so much here over the years, dining there 2-4 times per months at least. Ate that hundred times. Bye forever miyabi. Wish I hadn't sent so many folks there.
This previous inconsistent but good review below is no longer existent of this place.
Love this place for the most part. If you want quality sushi where it's not a bunch of sauce and a mess of all you can eat, but want flavor and quality COME HERE. Best in Reno. Something to note though, one thing is there is one sushi maker that makes the rainbow roll different and not tasty. I don't think there should be avocado on the top wrapped like the fish. Boo, too much avocado. It's a rainbow roll, not vegan nor avocado roll. And he also used pieces that have the shiny silver type skin so it's hard to chew and tastes different. To go food is also usually delicious and beautiful as well except someone puts mega sauce on the mt rose. It's gross and takes away from the other delicate flavors. One dot is perfect like dining in! Consistency is missing a wee bit
I highly recommend going here. Cute, classy, clean and...
Read moreI was doing some work in the area and was staying at the Hyatt near by and I had been wanting to try this place all week and finally on my last day, I was able to get to it before it closed.
The atmosphere was great. I tried the spicy edamame, Tonkotsu Ramen, and Ika. I was looking forward the the spicy edamame, as most places just have the regularly salty appetizer, but kinda let down that they did not bring it out prior to the rest of my meal and some of it was cold and some hot and it was not exactly what I had thought it would be like. It was somewhat sweet, very sticky and had little heat. But it did taste good.
The Tonkotsu I am used to eating usually has egg, but this did not, not a deal breaker, but did miss it none the less. It tasted pretty good. I asked for some chili oil and I also kinda wish it was in a container with a small spoon instead it was put on a small bowl and it made it hard to use and get the amount you wanted.
Ika was good, but amount of wasabi was laughable that was served with it.
Overall, it was still good, but I get just as good from a much...
Read moreMiyabi has a small, cafe-like atmosphere with a small bar area. It cannot seat a large number of people and there have been occasions when we had to leave since it was too crowded to seat more customers. They take reservations, at least the last time we checked. The service has always been decent for us, generally speaking. The food is very good, usually. They do have some off-days but mostly it is very good. It is not All-You-Can-Eat, which is fine for us since we don't eat much, anyway. It is also rather expensive. We were disappointed that the Teriyaki chicken has gone downhill since we started coming. Also, our favorite house salad that was a wonderful cabbage salad with a great dressing has been replaced with a tiny house salad that is just a few leaves of regular lettuce and a different dressing altogether. The miso soup is good and usually the tempura is very good, although on an off-night the tempura can be cold and uninspired. But when it is good it is really light, crispy and tasty. We don't eat there as much due to the changes we've seen and the...
