Poke King - Northwest — Restaurant in Reno

20/10, literally the best poke bowl I've ever had from a restaurant. We ordered delivery from Uber and had never noticed this place before. I've had poke from most of the restaurants around Reno, as well as several places in the Bay Area and more-or-less stopped ordering because it always felt expensive for what you actually end up getting. Needless to say, this is now one of my top recommendations for places to eat in Reno, let alone favorite place for poke. I picked up the box & felt the heft, and then opened it and was immediately impressed. Presentation aside, the chunks of fish were huge and creamy--better fish than several of the sushi restaurants around town--they didn't skimp on any toppings, the bowl was packed yet well-balanced in both flavor and sauces, and the chunks of fruit were big, ripe, fork-sized bites. It was a bowl like I would want to make for myself at home, but better. I got mango on mine and it was definitely fresh cut, and my partner got pineapple and it was the same. We also got the ice cream macarons--absolutely fantastic (the coffee is rich and deep, and the mango tastes like a bubblegum mango), and to say a restaurant made us feel like valued customers even through delivery, is something special. They wrote us cute little notes and provided an excellent customer-experience, even through an Uber order--you can tell whoever took our order was perceptive of our ordering situation as a couple and went above and beyond. Unfortunately, the Uber driver forgot our drink, but it was a fountain soda and that's not on the restaurant. We looked up the restaurant menu and location online after our fantastic experience, and will definitely be going there in-person to try more options like their milk teas... and more macarons :) We're going to be eating here all summer.

I have been eating poke from this location for several weeks at least 3 to 4 times per week. The quality is always good, but here is my issue with it- the quantity. I now know to NEVER order Friday through Sunday because there is half a cup of total fish and veggies in either a regular box or a large box. Special instructions have been ignored. The only thing there is alot of in the bag is napkins?! Whatever size box you order it will arrive only half full which is disappointing upon opening. Whomever is working Friday through Sunday is putting such tiny portions of everything in the box is cheating the customers very obviously. The price isn't going down by volume in the box, it's still very high! Yes, we customers notice that! UPDATE: the serving of poke today was not only meager, it wasn't fresh and has made me sick. Taste is amazing! Sometimes you just want that fix of raw fish, but don't want all you can eat. Great place to check out. The space is small so don't expect a huge group to go. The seating is communal, so please share and make some new friends. Food experiences are always better with new acquaintances. There is plenty of parking and yhey make the food fast. As long as you know what base, protein, sauce, and toppings. Be patient of there is a line. Some new might be trying it out and let's not ruin there first impression of this wonderful place. People say it's far, but it's not bad. Takes about 20 minutes at most from any direction of town. If it takes longer just know it was worth your drive.
