We are regulars in this place & eat here at least every other week. My son loves the Japchae and that’s all he eats here. I am always greeted by the Asian manager. His staff are always wonderful and even knows what my son wants to eat in this place . Last time we were there, they served the Japchae (3 orders) in a big bowl so my kid can eat it better.
Today, I went for lunch, my 2 kids in tow and was greeted by a different staff. Cara was our server & she wasn’t very welcoming but whatever. My baby shared some food with me—two spoonfuls of Japchae and the tofu that came with my Miso. Her tiny stomach can only handle 2-3 tablespoons of food per seating.
I asked for the bill and was surprised to see that my baby was charged full price: $8.95. When I asked Cara, she told me, “well she ate a lot of Japchae.” We’ve never been charged for what she eats—she is a baby who is just learning to eat! Cara said that she will inform her manager. She came back and told me, per Gaby, her manager, I can either pay the $8.95 for AYCE for the baby or $11.95 for Japchae because as Cara told me, “the way I see it, she ate so she should be charged.” I was shocked. Was this Cara really telling me that my 11 months old baby ate that much warranting a $11.95 charge?
I went and asked the manager Gaby if she thinks that my baby really ate a full order of Japchae. She insisted it is policy. If they eat, they pay. I told her, I come here and was never charged because common sense tells everyone that it’s ridiculous to charge a baby who ate 2 tablespoons of food. She tried to argue that I always come here for ala carte—and yes, there are times when I came for ala carte but mostly come here for AYCE. With all the attitude she can muster, she then told me, “I’ll take it out!” Making me feel like I was ripping them off cause my baby ate from my plate. It really made the whole dining experience super negative.
Needless to say, I will not be coming here again because of Cara and Gaby. Siu in Sparks also have AYCE KBBQ. Kids are $5 for lunch and they do not throw a hissy fit cause I fed my baby a few tablespoons of food from my plate. They also have a high chair—making it a better atmosphere for kids that are not old enough to sit in a booster seat.
My suggestion: Do not dare feed your baby even a morsel of food from your plate if Gaby and Cara is around, otherwise be ready to be shamed & make you feel like you are ripping them off. What a stingy place. Never again will I be...
Read moreI'm so sad writing this because this was my favorite KBBQ spot in town. Our recent visit, I went with my husband and daughter. We ordered 5 different meats.. they do monitor and stand by the kitchen doorway, which I understand that's what they have to do. My husband told me that two workers (one being the owner) were staring only at him for the entirety of our lunch. My husband heard the two workers chuckle at him because of the way he was eating his food. I told him not to think anything of it, who cares, just enjoy the food. 5 minutes after that, when we weren't even done eating yet, my husband and I saw the owner peak over at our table and say something to his white female coworker to which she replied, "this is why I only do half orders, so they can at least finish their food" (we weren't even done eating, we had a toddler too, we were not going to be as fast and efficient as they'd like us to be).. they were treating us harshly and we didn’t even do anything personal towards them! They never even came to refill our waters, they were just so invested in the drama they were creating.. I tried not thinking too much into it, I was still trying to finish my portion and my husband lost his appetite after hearing that comment from them that I don't blame him for. I was just there to enjoy a good lunch with my daughter and husband. The lady server came up to our table and said "we do charge extra for uneaten meat"... as I was still eating? That was what confirmed our suspicions that they WERE talking about how we were eating and made up this drama of us not finishing our food because we were also taking care of a toddler? After that happened I didn't feel like staying to finish, because we came here excited and happy but they MADE our experience so terrible for what? Tell me you wouldn’t feel uncomfortable when the staff actually talks down on customers who are supporting their business? Yeah we were going to finish if they had just let us instead of instigating.. 0/10 Not a family friendly place, maybe after they read this MAYBE they will be... Siu Korean BBQ is family friendly. They also have boba! I recommend to anyone who wants to enjoy a nice lunch with their family without being talked about by the staff. They also don't stare at you the entire...
Read more$40 for an 11 year old + roaches! It has been about a year since I last went to Ijji 4 and they have always been on the pricy side but as a sometimes treat I thought it worth it. The place is starting to look a bit rough around the edges with paper notices taped everywhere, including one from the holiday season at our booth. Boy was I shocked to discovered not just a two person minimum for all you can eat but they also consider an 85lb 11 year old an adult. Yes I could have lied but I should not need to. If the price was reasonable fine but at $40 ($39.95) a head this is just ludicrous. My wife and daughter wanted al-la-cart so with the two person minimum that left me and my son to AYCE. I will admit the servers were kind and attentive during the meal and the food tasted good as always. Although they were very dismissive if not visibly annoyed regarding the new prices resulting in a I just work here line. I was obviously annoyed with my bill which was well over $100 even though we only had water for the table and white rice for my daughter. I probably would have just left annoyed but we soon made a nauseating discovery. As I left the restroom after washing up my wife let out a shriek and pointed at the ground where I had to dodge the roach which was walking around like it owned the place. I snapped my picture and stormed to the front and demanded the manager. I was now nauseous and visibly upset. After showing her the picture and telling her she needs to hire an exterminator, she didn't apologize or even seem surprised but instead demanded to know where and when I saw it and grabbed someone and went back to look. She came back a few minutes later with a smile said don't worry I got it and then proceeded to show guests to their seats ignoring me. After storming out I decided to tell my story since I have a feeling it is the only way something will happen. Suffice it to say I am not going back to any Ijji establishment any time soon especially if this is how managers...
