I was starving when I got off the plane and selected this restaurant based on the Google reviews, and I'm very happy that I did - my lunch was delicious 😋!! The hostess was very friendly and helpful and guided me towards the enchiladas, which was the perfect choice! The mole was the special sauce of the day, and it was the perfect balance of heat and creamy, chocolaty consistency, which added a ton of flavor to the tender chicken. There were 4 enchiladas, rice, and refried beans, so I left full! It's definitely a place to visit! I drive thru this area all the time but this was my first visit to El Recreo. After reading all the reviews I had pretty high expectations and I was not disappointed! I got 2 Tinga Tostadas and a Chorizo Gordita. The tostadas were brought out first, within just a few minutes, and they were excellent. Especially with the salsa verde and squeezed lime juice. This restaurant engages in deceptive and fraudulent manipulation of their prices. They advertise a price, offer a discount for cash, then they jack up the price in the cash register and discount the inflated price to charge you the normal, advertised price. When you question it, they just say "the price is higher because of taxes." But the fact is that this price manipulation happens prior to taxes being applied. In some cases, even though they promise a discount for cash, they 'forget' to apply the discount to the higher price and charge you the inflated price...
