BPG is located in an unlikely spot (parking lot strip mall of a gas station) going up Sunset Blvd. It's not a place that you would drive to unless you're looking for it really or happen to be filling up on gas and hungry. I found this via yelp and wanted to try something new, I was skeptical when I saw it's location but decided to try it out anyways. Parking is limited but inside the area is rather spacious. Despite us coming in on a peak dinner hours on a Friday night the wait for a table for four was no more than 15 minutes. We were quickly greeted by our waitress Sara Jean, she's super friendly and quick and made a lot of great recommendations. We had, what felt like 25% of the menu!
Chicken Wings: pretty basic for bar style wings, non crispy style wings and buffalo sauce, nothing to rave about.
Pulled Pork Nachos: pretty solid nachos. the portion is small but a good size to share with two or three people as an appetizer. It wasn't the low quality cheese that hardens in 3 minutes, it wasn't ooey gooey like gas station cheese either tho. I do wish there was a bit more toppings to get flavor in every bite but overall a good dish.
Macaroni and Cheese: yum. made with penne pasta and high quality cheeses and topped with ground bacon bits. I personally enjoy more gooey cheese but this was a clean dish with mild cheese flavors and very filling with every bite.
Pulled Pork Sandwich: I'm not a fan of pulled pork sandwiches. This one didn't sway me any other way either. Sweet sauce and lots of flavor. I think what pulled it all together (no pun intended) was the bread, very fluffy and perfect texture.
Philly Rueben Dip: by far my favorite one on the menu. Tasted like a solid Philly Cheesesteak all on its own. You can dip it in the au jus sauce and let the bread soak in all the juice and it tastes even better. good size portion too along side with a load of fries.
Top it all of with homemade cheese cake: i liked it a lot, soft smooth creamy finish, i do wish it had a graham cracker bottom as it always adds so much flavor
Chocolate Mousse was very light in flavor and not overly sweet either.
The vanilla ice cream was a great pairing for everything as it was fluffy in texture and not heavily creamed.
Good food always tastes better with good company, the only thing that would make it better is great service and Sara Jean definitely delivered! She's a sweetheart and I'll definitely be back...
Read moreThis bar has been updated from the previous place, I've heard. Which makes sense (hear me out). It's located in a gas station parking lot and there's almost no parking in the front available. There's plenty on the street and around the back. On the outside, you see the way it's situated and assume it's a dive bar.
BUT once you enter, that's where the chaos ends and the more upscale gastropub vibes begin. The layout is designed to have large parties in the center of the space and couples along the walls. There is low seating, high seating and a bar.
I love the drink menu. There's hoppy beers, ciders, drafts, nitros and light beers on rotation and it's enough of a variety that most people can find what they want.
Their cocktail menu is delightful and geeky. There are references to favorite magical characters and films. You probably wouldn't think lavender and eggs go together in a cocktail, but trust me on this-- at The Brick, don't knock it till you try it.
There's never been a meal or appetizer I've tried here that I didn't like. Literally order anything and you probably won't be disappointed. Service is polite and prompt.
One of the most impressive parts of this bar is the hot sauce display across from the bar (close to the kitchen and bathroom), which I'd encourage you to check out. It's impressive and you basically have unlimited access to all of those amazing flavors.
And finally, we got the chance to sample some cheesecake from our friend who ordered and if you have room after your entree and drinks, definitely get some dessert. It's one of the best cheesecakes I've...
Read moreBulgogi tots could use a little more aoli but otherwise they are exactly as you expect. And love the pickled jalapenos (and serrano).
And the Loco Momo is also excellent, but not as an entree after the tots: too much pickle for one meal (in the best possible way).
I actually wanted to Lomo Saltado but thought it would be too much beef (with the tots) but i think it would have been more satisfying than a pickle-through line. Still, a unique flavor and texture profile that did not disappoint. Except in the furikake department. Ask for extra furikake.
Its a bit of a conspicuous concept in an equivalently inconspicuous spot. Would be good spot for solo musician or duo. Hope they get into that at some point.
6/7 Came back for happy hour and got the Brussel sprouts and the pork egg rolls.
Also excellent. Cook on the sprouts was a bit uneven so some bites were pretty bitter. But the dressing made up for it.
Use the S/S sauce sparingly on the egg rolls. Too much and you lose the subtlety of the jicama and taro. The stuffing is exceptionally well made.
6/16/25 Apparently we go to the Brick about the same time every year. Today had the Brussel Sprouts again. Love em. Also this time: Chopped Cheese sandwich and the Crispy Chicken Slaw.
Sandwich was rich and filling; American cheese and burger sauce gave it sweetness but jalapenos helped keep it from being cloying. KIMCHI AOILI with the fries was killer.
Salad was crispy and fresh. Edamame was a nice addition. fried chicken with Asian coleslaw-style vegetables.
Really should come back...
