Jaguar Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Renton

I’ve tried a handful of items from the menu, and they’ve all been consistently delicious in the two years I’ve lived in the area. Jaguar is a family friendly restaurant and is the only Mexican restaurant I’ve come across in the last couple of years that hits the spot with authentic Mexican food.

The quesabirria (probably spelt that wrong) is SO good. As a basic generic white guy, I love a good California burrito and theirs is hands down the best I’ve tried in Washington. So much so that I woke up craving one and that’s what prompted me to leave a review because I’ve been meaning to call out how good this place is.

If you’re craving authentic Mexican food in a casual environment, this is the spot. Great place to bring a family or friends, and it’s right in the middle of downtown Renton. Parking can be difficult at times, it just means that you might have to walk a couple of minutes to get there after finding a spot but it’s well worth it.

Side note - do not park in the nearby USPS parking lot. It’s a sirens call with how close it is with open parking spots. You’ll most certainly get a parking ticket. I learned the hard way because reading is apparently hard and I was in caveman mode of...

So Good! I am often disappointed by Mexican restaurants only because I lived in Mexico for five years and I want authentic Mexican dishes. At least close to authentic! One test for me is the Chile Relleno. Traditionally this dish is made with Poblano chiles, not Anaheims or Anchos. Also it is made with fluffy beaten egg whites, with the yolk gently folded in and the stuffed chile is dipped in this and fried. Served with a light tomato-onion-chile sauce, or smothered in cream and cheese, this is one of my favorite dishes... when made 'correctly'. Jaguar nails it! They serve an exquisite chile relleno. They also had aguas frescas, fresh drinks of either sweetened fruit and water or jamaica; sweetened hibiscus, or horchata; a chilled rice milk drink made of rice, milk, cinnamon and sugar. Guys I finally found it!! The best mexican restaurant for all of Renton SeaTac, Kent and Tukwila. Jaguar is the best authentic make you feel like you’re eating moms cooking Mexican food! The menu is so good with a great selection of foods and cocktails!

What truly impressed me was the affordability of the menu. Despite the high quality and authenticity of the dishes, the prices were incredibly reasonable, allowing me to savor multiple items without feeling guilty. It’s rare to find a place that captures the essence of true Mexican flavors while also being budget-friendly. I couldn’t resist ordering a few items to-go, eager to enjoy that authentic taste at home. Which how many restaurants can you say you ordered to go just to try at home.
