We decided to call in our order to the Renton Naan n Curry when we were about 30 minutes away. I placed my call to the restaurant at 5:21 PM. We asked how long it would take for food to be ready, and the woman on the phone told us that it would be 40 mins. I asked my GF if she still wanted to order since we'd need to wait for 10-15 minutes upon arrival.
We arrived at the restaurant around 5:50 PM and I went inside to pay and wait for our food. I went in expecting to wait about 10 minutes for food since we were specifically told it would take 40 minutes.
I was blown away at the fact that they were not adhering to any COVID-19/social distance rules. Nobody was monitoring the line, with about 10 people inside spaced no more than 3-4 feet apart. 5-6 more people were blocking the store entrance. If you wanted to get inside, you had to brave the people who would not give you any space to get inside. The woman working behind the counter who took our phone order was wearing a face mask, but the older male employee was not wearing any face mask. He would approach customers within 1-2 feet of them to ask questions and take orders. I had my mask on so, but I was still a bit uncomfortable.
He asked me if I was placing an order or picking up. I said I was picking up. He told me that it would be ready in 4-5 minutes. When I pulled out my credit card to pay, the woman who took my phone order looked at me and said "I told you it wouldn't be ready until 6:15 PM". No "hello", no "how are you doing". I was a bit surprised, and I calmly replied "when we called at 5:20, you told us it would be 40 minutes." I tried to expand and say that she also heard us talking on the phone about whether or not we wanted to wait an extra 10-15 minutes for our order, but I was cut off by her and the older man working there. I tried to explain that she said it would be a 40 minute wait and not a 55 minute wait, and that I know this because we really didn't even want to wait 15 minutes let alone 30 minutes after being in the car for about 8 hours today.
The older man tried to make it seem like he had done me a favor by bumping me up to the front of the line, even though the 4-5 minute estimate he provided me took us to the 40 minute wait time we were told. At this point, I was being talked down to by both of them, with about 10 people staring and watching. I backed away from both of them, put my hands up, and said "I'm not sure why you are talking to me like this. I didn't say anything about the wait time, I didn't ask to be moved to the front of the line. I was planning to pay my bill and wait outside in the car for the food to be ready." I walked outside to wait.
We waited outside for another 10 minutes (so about 15 minutes since I was told it would be 4-5 minutes). When he handed me the food, I asked if we could talk about why the situation took place inside. I tried again to explain where I was coming from, but he wouldn't listen. I told him that I hadn't been treated like this at a restaurant ever, and that I was going to provide this feedback to the owner. He began raising his voice. He became aggressive, extremely hostile, and was loud enough that he could be heard inside my GF's car. He then said that his original plan was to think about coming outside to apologize, but because of my "threats", he didn't care to apologize, said something like "I don't care who you talk to...". and he stormed back inside.
During this whole exchange, I saw there were two other patrons waiting outside, watching the entire thing unfold. I made sure to speak loud enough so they could hear me. They chuckled a bit when he left and said that was one of the weirdest things they'd seen in a while and they had no idea what his problem was.
I will not be going to back to the Renton location. The woman who works the phones/front is never pleasant to interact with, but this was too much. It's a bummer too, because we've been regular patrons over the last 1-2 years. No respect =...

Naan N Curry has been a staple in our household for years — almost a cherished ritual. We've recommended it, praised it, and relied on it time and again. But sadly, the recent experiences have left us frustrated, disappointed, and feeling taken for granted.
Over the past three weeks, we’ve ordered from Naan N Curry 5–6 times, and every single time the portion sizes — particularly the biryani — have drastically dropped. For context, we've consistently measured their biryani to be around 2 pounds, which was always satisfying and fair. Even when it occasionally dipped to 1.7 or 1.8 pounds, we let it go — understanding that minor fluctuations happen.
But what's happening now is no minor issue — it’s a pattern of serious shortchanging. For the past few orders, the biryani portions have shockingly dropped to just 1.1–1.2 pounds — nearly half the usual size — with no explanation or adjustment in price. This is not a one-time occurrence, but a sustained decline that feels exploitative.
Most disappointing of all: a few days ago, we had guests at our home and placed an order with full faith in Naan N Curry. What arrived were two embarrassingly small biryanis, totally inadequate for the occasion and incredibly frustrating. And today, yet again, I ordered three biryanis, and all came in at just 1.1 pounds each. That’s not just inconsistency — that’s a complete disregard for loyal customers.
I’ve spent years making the 55-minute round trip from Redmond Ridge to Renton via I-405 because I believed in the quality and consistency of this restaurant. But if this trend continues, I’ll be left with no choice but to stop supporting Naan N Curry — not out of frustration, but out of principle.
We deserve better than this. If things don’t change, I’ll be taking a break — at least 3 months of boycott — to avoid wasting my time, trust, and...
Read moreTo start, Taste Of India in Seattle is my gold standard in indian restaurants (If you haven't been, you should, if your ever in Seattle.the food is great and the service is scary good.?. seriously, go there for dinner and just try get to the bottom of your chai tea ....you'll never make it before a refill)
so take this review with a grain of salt....here goes....food pick up, the gentleman who helped me with my order was pleasant and quick to greet me. And then it kinda went down hill from there...
The food is kept in a dirty, once white, igloo cooler sitting on the floor ....the pick up area is absolute Chaos of sometimes office area and store room. the counter/pickup and kitchen area is filthy (this is clearly rarely cleaned, and I`m not particularly fastidious about it ... I'm a fan of the traditional greasy spoon restaurants, that's usually where you find the best food...not the case here though...) so onward....16.00 per entree is high for seattle and for Renton...! But I figured it was worth it after all the good reviews..there are ao many good reviews....?????...did this place change hands or something? And is still living on past goodwill ??...got to the car and looked it the order, no rice with either dish,no problem ...back inside a minute later and was greeted by a very rude woman who informed me that nothing came with rice ...huh?.ok..... ordered two sides (just over 7.00... wow! So let's add this up here 16 per order plus the rice ....its almost 20 bucks an entree? (If you want rice, which ya do right?)
I could let most of this go if the food was good, but it`s just not! Mediocre is being generous. The tikka sauce is canned/premade... and not agood one..the other dish, which looks like it was made there, was pretty bad, broken sauce with a huge piece of cauliflower in it...but veggies good for you so that's a positive?right?right??..sorry I just can't find a...
