It is unfortunate that I have to do this, but it is important to bring awareness to these types of events when they happen. I walked in for lunch today and ordered a large veggie and tofu pho, side of rice and milk tea. When the waiter came with my pho, he said "wow... that's a lot of food for you" in a quiet and disapproving tone. I almost choked. The fact that I was planning on saving half of it for dinner was irrelevant because even if I came with an appetite and commitment to the meal, that would have been okay. As a petite woman who has battled body dysmorphic disorder her entire life, this certainly did not help. Channeling my inner wisdom I then told him that "saying that kind of thing is bad for women, don't ever say that again" to which his response was to back away sheepishly without an apology. When a second waiter came to check on me, I told him what was said and suggested he talk with the initial waiter about his behavior. While I always pay for my food, I was surprised to see a check for full payment arrive and no manager intervention. Under no circumstances is it acceptable to publically shame women for the innocuous choices they make, such as choosing what is appropriate to fuel their healthy bodies at any given time. There is behavior in the world that justifies pause, but this is not one of them - it is discrimination. I am active in the disability space and this is precisely the kind of thing that drives the mental health and disordered eating disabilities women battle on a daily basis. I suspect that if said to some men, the potential impact would be similar. May this review be helpful to you when considering where to enjoy...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe go to this place for almost a decade ever since we lived in Renton. Although weāve moved but we still do pick-ups when we are in the neighborhood. The food is great and they are not overpriced like some other Vietnamese places. I would give them 5 stars if Iāve written this review years ago but Iām deducting 2 stars for customer service. I havenāt eaten in there for a while especially during Covid so itās been mostly pick ups. I called recently and got hung up on twice! The girl said she couldnāt hear me and just hung up on me. I called back and she said she can hear me but barely then she hung up on me again without even putting an effort to try to hear me. So rude! She heard what I said so obviously she can still hear me. Or at least be polite and tell me to try to call back. Husband had to go in and order there. He said he has never seen her before. She must be new or maybe the place is under new ownership. I recall they usually have great service are are alway nice. A note for the owners, during covid time most restaurants are grateful for pick up orders, but your employee seem like she didnāt want my business. If this keeps up, no one is going to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe place was great! I have been here since I was 7, so for the past like 10 years!
The food has always been consistent, delicious, and the meat is very tender and good.
I usually get the bun thit nuong, which is the best thing there. Very good and well worth the price. Speaking of prices, the place has rised the price quite a bit. Itās pretty steep now, but still very good. Just not as great as a deal as the bun thit nuong was once $9.99, a freaking steal!
I got the pad thai. It was pretty good, the lime added a kick to it. A bit on the blander end, and isnāt really spicy despite me getting a four but solid. I would get the five next time for more flavor and spice.
My mom said the bun thit nuong was fire, she wasnāt wrong. It was, indeed, fire.
Would recommend if you wish to have some decent Vietnamese food in Renton. Itās hard to beat and the location is lovely. The service is decent, and is relatively clean. In terms of boba, I only got their thai tea but the strawberry milk tea is 100% a never again for me. Would totally come again, just as I have for the past 10 years.
Fortune Noodle House is a bit cheaper but lower in quality as compared...
