The best local bar I’ve ever frequented in my life! Bar staff and owner are friendly and take care of you. As a woman, I normally feel very safe here because of the staff, even when I first started going here by myself.
The afternoon/dinner crowd is typically a solid group of regulars who laugh and smile and joke around. Most people are very welcoming and look out for each other if someone gets belligerent. Mostly it’s an older crowd (35+ I’m guessing), but I see younger people welcomed as well. I actually ended up meeting two of my favorite people in the world here :) Though I should preface I’m not typically here very late and acknowledge the late night crowd may be different. I read a review saying the older women that frequent here are garbage but I couldn’t disagree more based on my experiences.
There’s 4 dart boards with plenty of space to shoot ($1/person), 2 pool tables ($0.75), and every seat has a good view of a television to watch the games without there being wall to wall television sets like some sports bars. There’s also pull tabs, a claw machine, Golden Tee Golf cabinet, Galaga arcade cabinet, ATM and change machine. Makes the vibe feel pretty chill.
Although I was skeptical of eating here initially (homemade food and dive bar were not concepts I had experienced together), everything I’ve tried is amazing. The daily specials are all on point and available til 10pm. Only exception is the Tues steak special which starts at 5pm - completely fair since the steak and loaded potato are huge!
To the reviews on wait time for food - it tends to depend on how busy they are. If you walk in and it’s packed, you might ask the bar staff an approximate wait time or how many orders are before you. There’s only one cook so if everyone is ordering food (most common on Tuesday steak night and Wednesday night trivia) there will be a long wait. There’s also only one bar staff the majority of the time and they have to literally walk the orders back to the kitchen so, again, if it’s unusually packed, have some understanding.
Also a huge thank you to the owner for his support for our community. He let us host a knit-a-thon to raise money for food charities. He also lets people use the space to celebrate special occasions. The long bar tables make it easy to accommodate small...
Read moreWent here to watch the Wilder vs. Fury 3. I usually go to like a family spot like, Buffalo Wild wing's, but covid pretty much shut that all down. So I was desperately looking for some where to watch the fight and this place had it. The cover charge at the door was more than reasonable (only $10). And the environment very chilled. This was actually something I was stand offish about, because I don't go to bars and I didn't want to go to a place that had the wrong crowd/ trouble makers (especially happens during a boxing match). But this place was chill. You can tell mostly locals and regulars go here. When it filled up, everyone was there for one thing, the fight! Mostly old heads ( no disrespect) like 40s -50s and it seemed like everyone new each other. Nachos were great(Huge!) and had a reasonable price. Staff was friendly. No...
Read moreNice friendly staff. However the food leaves a bit to be desired. The cottage pie an English staple was pretty gross. (Cottage pie is similar to Shepard's pie and sometimes the terms are used interchangeably.) Meat was tender but the gravy tasted like some bad instant gravy or very possibly made with bouillon. It was so salty I almost finished a beer by the time I was half way through; which is when I stopped. I just could not stomach anymore. The carrots and peas had been frozen which I could have over looked if the rest was good. Potatoes were the real thing. I know because there were lumps some of the quarter size. People say English food is bad. I say if done well English food is good comfort food. It is dishes like Pickled Onion's Cottage pie that give English...
