The food here is very good. I tried the adana and it is amazing, along with the rice and salad it came with. As an aside, I actually requested the salad to be replaced with more rice (waiter said no problem) but it was ignored; oh well. I also tried the baba ghanoush, which was great. There seem to be hints of mama lil's peppers, which I can only presume isn't exactly traditional, but I don't mind since I'm not even Turkish and it worked well. Food is 4 stars I think.
The price for the food is not terrible, but it's not great; 3 stars for pricing.
The service... ehhhh this is really dragging down the overall rating; It's a very low 1 star. 0 stars maybe?
I got seated well enough and my waitress was nice enough, but that's about the end of it. The salad/rice issue described above is the least of the problems. I never saw my waitress again for the rest of my stay!
The food was delivered quite abruptly by a guy who didn't say a word to me, and kept walking away when I tried to beckon about the salad being present on the plate. I gave it a minute and tried the baba ghanoush in hopes my waitress would come and I could ask her about it... as stated, she never came. In the end, I ate my meal without ever being looked at again. My glass of water long empty, and no staff in sight. I waited a few more minutes after having finished eating before conceding to the fact that nobody was coming. To note, this was around 5p and not particularly busy. I decided to just get up and walked up to the counter to pay, where a guy rang me up again without saying a word to me. No query about how my meal was, no thanks for coming, nothing.
The food was super good though. I really would be excited to come back to try their other offerings, but I don't know if...
Read moreTo start, the wait time to be greeted and helped was poor, took about 30 minutes to speak to a waiter. Although, they only had two waiters in the whole restaurant so I see why it took some time, they should have better staffing when it comes to that. I do have to say that the lady who helped us was very pleasant and helpful, she made good recommendations and made sure we were happy. I’ve had Turkish food a few times prior to trying Sabah cafe. Usually Turkish food is a hit or miss for me. But I was pleasantly surprised with Sabah cafe. The meat was all cooked nicely and good flavor, although I do wish the beef chops were a little more tender. I was a big fan of the lahmujen and the meat pide, the bread was thin and crispy, the meat all had great flavor. Although, i wasn’t a big fan of the manti, i generally love manti, but this one just had too much yogurt sauce, and the dough to meat ratio was inadequate. I would have preferred a little more meat in the dumplings, it was lacking that flavor and fullness. I was so excited to try a Turkish doner for the first time as well, but unfortunately it didn’t satisfy my expectations. I got the chicken doner, the chicken was alright, but a little dry, the doner could have used some sauce inside, they only put a side of sauce on the outside, the fries were great and crispy though. we ended the lunch with some tea and dessert , their cakes were delightful, baklava a bit too sweet but great texture. Overall, I’d come here again because it is on the better end of halal restaurants...
Read moreOur dining experience at Cafe Sabah in Seattle was nothing short of a delightful journey to Turkey itself. As a lover of Turkish cuisine, I was excited to explore the flavors of this wonderful culture, and Cafe Sabah did not disappoint.
One of the highlights of my visit was indulging in Turkish desserts, particularly the kunefe. From the very first bite, it was evident that the chef's commitment to authenticity was unwavering. The kunefe was an absolute revelation, with its delicate layers of shredded pastry, sweet syrup, and rich, gooey cheese. It tasted remarkably similar to the ones I had savored in Turkey, bringing back cherished memories of my travels.
The overall dining experience at Cafe Sabah was equally impressive. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, reflecting the warmth and hospitality for which Turkish culture is known. The staff were attentive and friendly, making me feel like a valued guest.
Beyond the desserts, the menu offered a wide range of Turkish dishes that catered to various tastes. The flavors were robust and true to tradition, offering a genuine taste of Turkey right in the heart of Seattle.
Cafe Sabah's commitment to delivering an authentic Turkish dining experience is truly commendable. Whether you're a connoisseur of Turkish cuisine or simply looking to explore new flavors, this restaurant is a must-visit. It's a culinary journey that transports you to the heart of Turkey, and I left with a satisfied palate and a heartwarming feeling of nostalgia for a...
