When you go out you're not just looking for something to eat but also a great experience. The service from the time you are greeted, seated and leaving should be a pleasurable experience. The staff was very welcoming and accomodating. We had Habatchi Grill, (no wait) the Chef was very entertaining as well as professional. The portions were huge and the food was absolutely delicious. Everything had perfect flavor and was cooked to perfection. I never had to ask for a refill because they kept our glasses full. They served a tasty brooth and a little fresh salad. The fresh sauces served on the side with the dish was a wonderful pop of flavor but not necessarily needed because everything was perfectly seasoned. We had the Steak and Chicken and Shrimp and Chicken combo. The fried rice, noodles and fresh vegetables were more than we could eat. The prices were reasonably for the amount of food and service. The only thing I didn't really care for was the added 15% tip to the bill for 2 people. I understand if they want to add a tip to a larger group of 6 or more to make sure they don't get stiffed; but I like to decide how much I leave for a tip. There is a line to add an extra amount for a tip. I did because everything was wonderful. However, it is a huge turn off and if I go back with a larger group I might think twice before I leave an additional tip seeing they want to tell me how much I should tip. If that was not on the bill, I most certainly would have left much more than I did but I find it a bit offensive when they add the tip before you get to decide how much you wanted to leave. Like I said, I go out for the whole experience (& being a Server when I was younger, I understand how hard they work.) That's the only thing that I don't like about any restaurant. Hopefully I will have consistent good experiences when I go with a larger group. I think Fusion is one of the best restaurants in the South Suburbs! Maybe they should rethink adding a 15% tip on guests with fewer people in them. When most see it added they leave it. If I had a choice, I would have left much more being so happy with their service. A tip is traditionally optional and when you tell people what to do, they psychologically go the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe service was sub - par, the show non-existent, and my food was inedible.
Our waiter took forever to come and take our order and through the meal checked in twice with water.
The food... Where to start... The onion soup was a broth heavy on soy sauce and oil. The salad was an AMERICAN salad with some salad greens and creamy garlic dressing (no traditional ginger dressing!) There was one plate, fork and large spoon. They didn't offer to change out the fork from salad to meal and the spoon wasn't even a soup spoon. And the fried rice was just piled on the plate without it's own bowl.
The chef cooked the food, was barely understandable when he asked questions and didn't put in even the barest show. He slid the eggs for the fried rice down the spatula... That was it. No heart shaped rice, no volcano or train with onions, no flipping of the knife. Though he did offer to shoot sake into your mouth. Didnt go over well with the elderly couple we shared the table with and entirely inappropriate with a teenager at the table. QThe steak was a thin strip that wasn't of barely a decent quality and was cooked closer to well done... And no mushrooms... The tail was pre-removed from the shrimp (so no knifework or tail flipping) and wasn't cut small. While the shrimp was large and generous portioned, it had a fishy taste.
We watched another chef and he didn't do any of the traditional tricks either (but theth was a steady stream of sake into another patron's mouth) ... But he did flip some fire batons at the end.
And they put a 15% tip on all hibachi tables, regardless of party size. So there is absolutely no incentive to make it fun.
Overall, if I wanted just Japanese hibachi served on my plate, I could have to a regular restaurant and paid a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUpdated Review 2025 scroll down This place has the best Asian cuisine on the south side. Not only am I a regular takeout customer but I love their Hibachi dinner. I've gone to Hamada's and I'm never going back. A.Fusion not only gives you plenty of food but it's delicious and reasonably priced. The smoothies are also good and so is the sushi. Editing 9/2025 After being a long time patron of the restaurant, during a recent visit I ordered seafood (salmon and scallops) in a room full of people eating steak and chicken. When I finished my meal I got so sick I couldn't even get up and walk to the bathroom. I vomited everywhere including all over my clothes. When I explained to the manager that I got sick and didn't want to pay for my meal but would happily pay for the rest of my party she started to gaslight me and insinuate that I could've been high or drunk and they didn't know what made me sick. I pointed out that I was the only person in the hibachi room to order seafood, hadn't eaten anything since the day prior and didn't feel sick in the slightest when I was seated. After arguing back and forth about not paying for a meal that I vomited back onto the table I told her that my guest would be paying for their meal separately and that I wouldn't be paying. They threatened to call the police on me and I left my personal information and went home. I haven't returned since!!! Horrible terrible way to treat a longtime customer of almost a decade after they've consistently supported you and was just food poisoned in your...
