My husband and I used to frequent this cafe, but unfortunately will not be continuing to give them our business. I'm 8 months pregnant, and unable to wear a mask safely for medical reasons at this point. My husband was wearing a mask when we walked in and had his on the entire time, but I was approached again and again, eventually by 5 staff members, asking that I put a mask on. I kindly and calmly explained that I was medically exempt and it's not safe for me to wear one. The staff, including management, did not care at all.
After a few minutes of waiting for a table while the situation unfolded, we were approached by 3 staff members, all talking at once insisting that I wear a mask, with no regard for a medical exemption. They talked over me, would not listen, and made a scene that drew the attention of everyone in the restaurant. I felt bullied, harrassed, and embarrassed. I was there to quietly eat breakfast with my husband, with no symptoms and a very legitimate cause to not be masked. We were 6 feet away from everyone, except for the staff who had approached us, at all times.
We decided to leave and get breakfast elsewhere. I have never been treated with such disrespect in a public place like that. Almost every other restaurant we've been to has been kind and understanding about my situation, and I'm sad that a place we loved was the one to publicly bully a very pregnant woman and make an unecessary scene. There is no excuse for a business failing to treat people with basic respect...
Read moreFirst visit to this place which is a regular of my parents and sister who live nearby. Monday lunch crowd was decent but the staff was vacuuming a closed section while we were eating. I found this to be both noisy & distracting; could vacuuming not be done before they opened? I got the grilled chicken sandwich; it came with overcooked, rubbery chicken that I couldn't eat, thick cut tomato slices, and cottage fries that were soggy. My stepdad got breakfast #9, which was hash browns, eggs and biscuit with gravy. It looked good & he liked it. My sister got the tuna plate, which seemed freshly made with lots of garden salad and two tuna salad scoops. The water had a strong, bleachy smell...obviously not filtered. Service was fairly attentive. I was getting over a cold & was coughing a lot. Ordered hot tea but the server forgot to bring it. If I go again to appease my stepdad, I'll try a breakfast or one of the salad plates, but I cannot recommend the sandwich plate that I had. It's a cute place...perhaps they were having an off day on...
