We used to love this place. I didn’t realize the restaurant was sold to the malls owner and is now under new ownership/leadership until I read another review and everything they said was exactly the experience we just had. The breadsticks were burnt and hard like giant croutons. The wedding soup is no where near as good as it used to be, as well as the service. My husband picked up our food tonight, got halfway home and turned back for food that was ordered but not in the bag. Shame on us, but we didn’t go through the food with a fine tooth comb because we then realized my Caesar salad was packed with no dressing after he was finally home. I called the store in hopes that it would be reconciled and was told I could come back for the dressing but she doubted I wanted to do that. I said no we really don’t want to have to drive for a THIRD time to the restaurant to make our order right. No other compensation was offered for the second mistake. We’re so disappointed and won’t be back. We miss the way this place used to be.
Shout out to Capri in Westmont. This reminds me of a time our order was incorrect and they actually drove the correct meal to our house without any hesitation. That’s good ownership and guaranteed...
Read moreThe Italian Oven has been our favorite place to eat for over 20 years. We would eat there almost weekly, whether it was in person or takeout. It was better than Olive Garden! However, I understand it is now under new ownership and the food is now inedible. I have never in my life sent food back simply because it tasted bad before tonight.
The Alfredo sauce was flavorless, gritty, and watery. It was as if they mixed water with some Parmesan Cheese and called it Alfredo. I asked for a meat sauce instead, which was just a big pile of ground beef on my pasta. Like eating a sloppy joe on pasta. Everything was greatly lacking in seasoning.
The house Italian dressing used to be so good, but now it was just oil with some herbs in it. Again, no salt and tasteless. They were out of Italian Wedding Soup, leaving only 1 kind of soup, Red Pepper Cream. Which just tasted like a bowl of pasta sauce.
A nice touch was always the mints by the counter at the end of your meal. No more mints.
I am so disappointed. My favorite restaurant has been ruined! Sadly, I will never eat here again unless I hear the old...
Read moreI used to love this place. Their chicken & vegetable penne is my absolutely favorite. My husband & I happened to be in Johnstown a couple days ago so we decided to stop in & grab something to eat for lunch. He got a pizza that looked fresh. My food on the other hand was a disappointment to say the least. The noodles were absolutely disgusting. They were definitely OLD. They tasted overcooked & reheated. I picked around and ate the vegetables but the noodles were basically inedible which is ridiculous considering it cost almost 18$. Not to mention the fact that it was not busy & we still waited almost 40 minutes for our food for it to taste like it sat for a week is unacceptable. This place has gone downhill drastically which is obvious considering it used to be busy every single time we went - now it’s practically empty. The only bright side of our lunch was our server was attentive and super nice. Sadly, for the amount of money you pay to eat here for subpar food.. we...
