Mattress Firm Johnstown — Hotel in Richland Township

I've never had a more disappointing experience with any company. The sales experience was fine, and the product seems fine, too. The delivery is where everything went wrong.

I inquired specifically at purchase about removal. I was instructed by the salesperson that it was "one for one," in other words, if you bought a box spring and mattress they took a box spring and mattress. The contract you sign with the company says exactly as much, too.

On delivery day, that was not the case. The delivery team refused to remove the old mattress and box spring because, after spending 13 years in a child's room it was soiled. In the process, one of the two delivery men (the other was fine) was very arrogant and rude with my wife and daughter, actually bringing my daughter to tears by calling her "dirty." Unfortunately (maybe fortunately), I was not home at that moment.

Understandably, I began making phone calls immediately. The company's initial offer to keep me from cancelling the sale was pitiful. $20 off and I could have the pleasure of dragging what THEIR contract EXPLICITLY says they will do during delivery and haul the items a one hour round trip from my home to dispose of them in their dumpster.

After a few more calls, they finally made me happy enough not to cancel the sale. The CSR explained to me that they have a policy to not take soiled materials for fear of contaminating the other new products on the truck - you know, the ones wrapped and sealed in thick plastic.

The long and the short of it is this is a company that has a policy in direct opposition to the terms you agree to when paying for delivery. It's an illegal practice. The company was in full breach of its own contract.

I would never shop here again as you cannot trust this company to live up to it's own sales agreement. Just drive a half block down the road. There are mattress stores on every corner and most seem to operate in an honorable fashion and don't insult their customers in...

We went to Mattress Firm yesterday. We were greeted by two employees. We weren't the easiest people to help as we were pretty indecisive. The manager switched mattresses for us about 6 times until we found the one that we liked. Also helped us pick pillows that fit put sleeping needs. Very nice experience. Would highly recommend!!

Update: Jordan was a very nice person to work with unfortunately he was out sick during the delivery week. I called all week to ensure that my mattresses were going to be there. I kept getting answers like well as for what it's showing they will be etc. I said I really need them by the date promised. I was told on several occasions that they would be here. The day before the intended delivery I stopped in the store and was told there were no exceptions, they will 100 percent be delivered. I should expect a call from the warehouse between 6 and 8 to set up a delivery time. 745 rolls around and no call. I called the store and they said oh...it looks like the mattresses are at the warehouse but they forgot to put them on the truck for delivery. I asked them to call the warehouse. I was told they can never get ahold of the warehouse people. Well at 8 am I called the warehouse today, answered on the first try. Not only are my mattresses not even there from the vendor but the store lied and said that they just didn't put it on the truck. I could deal with it if I just was told the truth but I hate being lied to! We also ordered pillows and my parents wanted the same pillows so we came up and ordered the next day. This was my first Mattress Firm experience. My wife and I were shopping for an adjustable bed and mattress. We visited other stores (Ashley Furniture) the pressure started at the door and made my wife and I feel very uncomfortable. The sales person showed us the most expensive mattress and frames first. The prices were far more than we would have liked to spend. I told the sales person that we would sleep on it. We left there and saw the Mattress Firm Store at the Galleria. We went in and they were busy. We were told to make ourselves at home. Try whatever you want. If you have any questions we're here. No pressure. Ahh! Mason Melendez answered all of our questions and since it was presidents day sale we got a really great deal. We got everything we wanted and more for half the price of the other guy. Also, the other guys delivery was 5-6 weeks. Mattress Firms delivery was 2 days. We did have an issue with the mattress and Mason took care of us. We had two different delivery people and they were both professional and helpful. Thank you guys for the great experience and I will recommend you to everyone who will listen. Henry...
