Not a good beginning: The food I put on my plate from the first buffet island, when we arrived, was cold. I was disappointed that the rice wasn't very good as you would expect from an Asian restaurant. I also picked up a small skewer of bright red meat, which I think was pork. One piece had gristle on it and the others were dry and very overcooked. The deep-fried squid looked like onion rings and it was ok.
Next thing I know, the place exploded with people. Mostly families who brought young children, many of which were running around and making noise. A lot of NOISE. All the children were below the sneeze guards and most were allowed by their parents to get their own food.
We ate there on a Monday and I'm not sure they serve the same food every day, but it seemed like there were more seafood dishes, but I don't like seafood much and was looking for chicken or pork dishes. I found a dish with broccoli and I think chicken, but it was so over cooked the broccoli was mushy and the chichen was a weird mystery meat with no flavor. I only ate one bite...
I also tried another presumably chicken dish with coating in a sauce. There was no identifier on the sneeze guard so I didn't know what it was. The sauce had a weird critus flavor, the coating was mushy, and after a couple bites I didn't eat more.
If you've ever had the misfortune to buy the Safeway deli Asian food at the end of the night (because it's half-priced) ... well, that's what it was like. Food that had been sitting out far too long. There also seemed to be coatings with no meat in them.
My husband really likes shrimp and got some batter-coated shrimp. They put the coating on, but FAILED TO REMOVE THE EXOSKELTON. So my husband has to peel off the coating, then the exoskeleton before eating it. He wasn't happy.
I also tried a button mushroom dish. The mushrooms weren't cooked enough and were hard. Again only one bite told me this wasn't good either.
I really like those sesame balls with bean curd in the middle, but these were about half the size of the usual ones, and were really gummy. How do you mess up a sesame ball? I didn't think it was possible.
There was also NO sushi, although someone else had posted a photo several years ago with California rolls, I believe.
The best desserts were the pudding, macaroons, and soft-serve ice cream, but that couldn't make up for the overall awful meal. I tried a small puff pastry which tasted stale, so I don't recommend them either.
Unfortunately, the restaurant was dumpy inside. It had no ambience - it was lit poorly in the main eating area and had unattractive booths. Several flies buzzing around and I hoped they hadn't landed on any food I ate.
I also noticed that some dishes had waaay too much sodium. Some of the dishes were 2-3x too salty. I'm posting this the following morning and can verify the sodium problem because my hands and knees are painfully stiff and swollen this morning.
I noticed one guy come out from the kitchen to replace food trays. He had a beard but he wasn't wearing a hair or beard net. I'm not sure they are required in Washington, but it just added to the overall feeling of a marginal restaurant. The women's restroom stall I used was full of graffiti.
In conclusion: This place was terrible. My question is how can a buffet screw-up almost every dish?
The total for 2 adults was something like $43. I feel bad for my husband. He doesn't make very much money and he paid since he choose the restaurant. We should have asked for...

Visited on 6/30/21, and had been a couple of years since last visit. My last experience was poor and I thought I would try again.
Been on the toilet for 2 days with food poisoning! OMG this place has gone WAY downhill. Tables are all sticky! I dare you to scratch your fingernail across any if them and see the poor cleaning history. Don't rest your arms on table or they stick! I ate the red sauced spare ribs, cream cheese won tons, red bbq chicken on the wood stick and rice. Sorry for the graphicness, but been close to the bathroom for 2 and a half days.
I went with 2 friends at 730PM, left about 840PM with a clamshell of food as they were closing. NOTE, my 2 friends who I treated for dinner also became ill during the night as well. The bill was $53 and some change.
Never again. Never ever again. If you need a good cleansing, help yourself, but stay close to a bathroom and don't accidently cough or laugh too hard. Prepare ahead and make sure you have plenty of TP, access to bathroom every 3 hours, and a package of baby wipes.
Called restaurant on Friday afternoon to report that the food was tainted and was hung up on. I called back and they told me I had Covid and to call 911. I asked who was going to pay the doctor bill then and I was to that "we go to court for bill", and was hung up on again.
Called Health Dept and reported. They were concerned that restaurant had not contacted them at health dept yet, as apparently they are supposed to self report when a customer reports an illness from their food. During my call to health dept I missed 2 calls FROM Great Wall. They wanted to know what I had ate earlier in the day. They said the milk I had in my cereal for breakfast must have been bad.
Serious friends, this was an extremely poor experience. You have been warned. I should add too that my 2 young friends who went with me, ages 16 and almost 16, also experienced the same gastrointestinal issues as I, just not as bad. What a waste of money, TP and time. Choose wisely, and trust your first impressions of Great Wall Chinese. Browse the restaurant first, inside and out, and THEN decide if you want to spend days on the toilet. So very...
Read moreI really wanted to experience my Chinese buffet for the first time here Washington but couldn't believe how disappointing i was. I would like to start off by saying it was super clean and friendly o complaines there what i was amazed about how the lack of customer service you enter you sit your self you refill your own drinks wow i should just might well went to panda Express and for what i paid for 2 adults 10 year old and 5 year old it was definitely not worth the price selection of food was very poor and one gentleman meowed clesning over and over and running to the back to come back out with no more food and just enough filled to maybe not cook more? I was ver observent and i was really trying to enjoy my food but couldn't come to grasp how big this place is and the poor selection on food it was alot of the same stuff just scared to make it look full. My recommendation for anyone coming here read more in details the reviews and make sure they are genuine for i really thought I would have a different experience in this place i just don't see how slow it could be to get better customer experience from the peoole that work there. I know that in Idaho there was a location 10 times smaller then this place and the selection was very impressive. I will not be coming back here thank you i really try to enjoy food i was disappointed. Oh yes this was around 4-5 ish so not late or last...
