I have been going to Spudnuts for close to 30yrs. Decided to try the new owners food and see how much of the old place is still there. Love the shop, atmosphere and coffee. Great mom and pop style atmosphere. However, the service and breakfast was dismal. We both decided to try the biscuits and gravey with hash browns and eggs. A simple 5 minute breakfast. We heard the cook was heard tell our waitress she probably would have to remind her again what we wanted as there was a lot to remeber.

First attempt at making it 10 minutes in and something happened and the cook said crap...and told our waitress she needed to start over. 35 minutes later the cook tells the waitress, take this out and I will try to get the eggs quickly. Mind you it's was just two over easy.

Well at 45 mins we both have our "breakfast". Well, the hash browns were just cut up jojos and not hashbrowns, one super tiny buscuit on my plate 3/16" inch thick (yes it was that thin) piled on top of the jojos, then gravey and then my eggs on top of that. The plate was so tiny that food was perched over the sides. My wife's plate was basically the same mess only less food. During our hour long breakfast we were the only people having breakfast as the rest were coffee and spudnuts. Rapid refills of everyone elses coffee while we got one refill.

Sadly this was not the Spudnuts I have held support for over the last few decades. Bright spot is the spudnuts themselves are still on point and the place has super delicious coffee (when you can get it), but do not go there expecting good prepared food as a sit down meal. We tipped out waitress and paid our bill and went down to the restaurant down the walk way and had a real breakfast. Cost of meal for two was...

Despite claims that "nothing would change" when new owners were determined, things have changed.

The food is still delicious, but there are things that just make me sad and depressed now.

If you're going to be open on Sundays and not offer the full menu, why not have a "Sunday Menu"?

The change in staff makes me lonely. The lack of familiar faces is one thing, but the new staff lost the pride and integrity of the old crew. Today was the first time in my life, employees referred to their food as "donuts." Even when I would try and order a "donut" before, I was reminded that they only served "Spudnuts." It was a quality thing. This might seem pointless to some, but for a local who supported this restaurant my whole life, the change is significant.

There were odd things out of place like flyswatters thrown against the base of the wall, and light switches that haven't been cleaned, little details that are starting to make it feel like an uncared about dining area. This was unexpected and, again, nothing I've ever seen before.

Why would you take cottage cheese off the menu? It's a necessity.

Why would you remove spudnuts from the menu? Being told they no longer make my favorite spudnut was one thing, but having it still listed on the menu was a metaphorical slap to the face.

Yes, I am saddened by these little changes. Spudnut has been a place of strong memories for me.

I don't want anyone to get in trouble and I don't want the place to close. I love the option to visit on a Sunday. But......I just miss it the way it was.

Each time we visit recently, I wonder if it's worth coming back. I miss you Spudnut...

Not the best doughnuts in Tri cities. With my first experience coming here; it was very crowded, loud and no introduction to their doughnuts or anything they offer in this shop but a seat to a very small table of four. It took my husband and I 15 mintues to finally find a menu which it has been sitting at our table the whole time. It would be nice if the waitress would tell us or offered us about the menus than just seating us and taking off. We didn't get any introduction or suggestings to their doughnuts or anything so it was kind of hard to decide what kind of doughnuts to order. There is no display of doughnuts in this shop, it's all sitting out on a cooking sheet laying out in the back against their wall behind the counters. I guess your not allowed to see what they have, but guess for it. It wasn't freshly made and it was already hard as a rock when we got ours. Worst doughnuts in my life and will never return to this place and will not recommend this place at all. They don't care about you being new to this town or anything...

been here since 12:40, have been coming here since the ghirardos (who are family friends) owned spudnut. since ownership was sold, it started to decline. mainly, the problem is the workers attitudes. my mom has been sitting here waiting for her coffee refill for 15 minutes, and never has gotten it. they haven’t walked around at all. everytime i come here, the workers have poor attitudes and whenever the owners come in, they immediately change. mainly the older woman who is usually working, she has a poor attitude and acts very low energy. the food has been remotely the same, but the biggest change is customer service all around. sad.

New to town, my husband stopped by here and told me I HAD to try it. Pleasantly surprised when I finally stopped by. First off, I love supporting family owned businesses. Second, I was surprised by the potato flour. I thought it would make the donuts very dense, which I don't like. It was not dense, it was also not overly light and fluffy. I think people that don't like overly sweet donuts would like these very much. Staff was so fun and cool. I like entering a place where we treat eachother like equals. I don't like overly friendly fake staff. This place has such an effortlessly fun and friendly atmosphere.

The atmosphere here is really the main selling point, although their donuts are very good. As the name implies they use potatoe flour in their donuts. The potato flour does give donuts some texture and flavor differences that make them a worth while stop. Friendly service. At 9 on a Wednesday morning the restaurant was full. Many conversations between tables in a club atmosphere. An exceptionally older Caucasian crowd for the Tri-cities.
