It's a neat place. Small enough to be quaint and big enough to have some atmosphere. I came in about 6:00pm on a Saturday. A man and his wife were setting up to sing on the stage up front. It was a country/blues type atmosphere. I was sat within 30 seconds of walking through the front door. However, it took 20 minutes for the waitress to even ask about a drink. I felt like the waitress forgot about me a couple of times. It really didnt seem super busy at that time. So, the service wasnt great. The food is smoked BBQ and they have a variety kids menu. Everything comes out dry and there are 3 sauces on the table: sweet, mild and hot. Sides were served in small Mason jars. I got "the sampler". You can get 3 different kinds of meat with the sampler and 2 sides. I got the brisket, ribs and pork with baked beans and cheesy potatoes. The brisket was dry and didnt really have a lot of flavor. I was disappointed because the waitress really talked it up. However, the ribs fell off the bone and the pulled pork was tender. The portion sizes were decent. The cheesy potatoes was like mashed potatoes with cheddar. The baked beans were pretty basic. The sampler was about $25. My Coke was about $2.50. With tax and tip it was about $35. I had leftovers so the value was fair.

Coming to visit a town we were fortunate to find this Barbeque restaurant opened by former firefighters. The history and unique ambience was spectacular. The opportunity to listen to live bands in the outdoor eating area during the summer is enjoyable. Our waitress Trish was friendly and responsive. I wanted a microbrew IPA beer but I was not sure which one I wanted, so Trish brought me three samples. Wow. Then I wanted an appetizer but I told our waitress Trish that I didn't want fried jalepino peppers. The waitress told me they backed. The poppers were just spicy enough but not too much. Then we had the pulled pork which was tender and moist and the Brunswick Stew which had sausage, pork, chicken and ham. Amazing. I then wanted a stout beer and once again our waitress surprised us with three samples. Truly amazing service. The decorations, music history of the area and tribute to the firefighters in a preserved firehouse was truly unique. If you are looking for a unique BBQ restaurant with superior service, delicious food and reasonably prices, this is the place you can't miss.

The woman who seated us (who I believe is a manager- if not she should be!) was great! She was very quirky and funny and so nice. Before she left she let us take pictures around the place (without bothering customers, of course).

Our waitress (different younger lady) seemed a bit disinterested and a little inattentive but it was a bit crowded so I understand.

The food was really good in terms of taste, however their portion sizes are very small compared to anywhere else I have ever been, especially for the price. The macaroni and cheese wasn’t great though, it tasted like peanut oil and didn’t have enough cheese (I recommend the cheesy potatoes though. So good.) I ordered an alcoholic beverage, the picture showed it came in a decent sized glass jar but it was delivered in a normal glass cup (much smaller than I thought) so it was a bit disappointing. However, I do recommend the place as their food has very good and unique flavor.

We went during live music and was seated close, so it was a little loud for my taste but there is another side to the restaurant to sit. He did a good job on stage though!

The parking was abysmal for us (originally didn’t find a spot and had to circle around the whole city to get back lol) but we eventually parked right across the street in the lot from it. So it was very close, right in front. Very neat decor and interior.

Overall, you should definitely try it...

I had a very poor experience as a first time customer today at 3:30pm stopping in to order food as no customers were inside and I ordered 2 beef brisket items (sandwich and dinner platter) and wasgiven one minute after ordering order of pulled pork , chicken dinner, while all 3 of my sides were also wrong. And, my sandwich of pork had Mac and cheese on it which further wrong and the Mac and cheese side was very small portion. In working and knowing private authentic restaurants , it's terrible to receive the wrong order and management should be held accountable as that strictly lies within training and hiring.

After calling the restaurant today, a manager did apologize and claims I should get refunded . I will never ever recommend this restaurant due to that issue as we drive 2 hours away and ere on a vacation visiting nearby. I hope owner and GM hold higher stands and accountability for their staff , especially for something that is just such a simple task. I should have looked inside the boxes as I typically would, but I trusted them and the cashier should have looked inside also.

I prefer private aut hentic eateries but not this place and sad because we specifically wanted brisket , however I should have just chosen the alternative and gone to the private authentic Italian restaurant in...
