Kokee Tea - Carytown Richmond — Restaurant in Richmond

I typically don’t leave reviews but I’m just really bummed. My sisters and I loved going here when we would frequent the piercing shop across the street. We order the same thing every time. So for this event we ordered our usual drinks and left. My sister tried it as she was walking to the car and realized there was something at the bottom of her drink. She said it takes like sugar or something small and crunchy. She said it didn’t taste right and the drink was way too sweet even though we got the lower sugar level. She went back in to talk to them where they told her everything that could be wrong with the drink but didn’t offer to remake it even though she told them multiple times it was incorrect. They explained they use syrup so she asked then why is there crunchy stuff at the bottom of her cup. She argued back and forth with them for a few minutes while all the employees or owners ganged up on her about the drink. She eventually left because they were getting no where and we didn’t get the drink fixed. We originally ordered 3 drinks one of them for my little sister. We got home and she tried it then also said it didn’t taste right either. So now we have multiple drinks that do not taste right and we just lost our money because they won’t fix them. They’ve been so good in the past it’s a shame that their quality is not the same as it used to be. But it’s a good lesson/reminder to always check your food. I will not be ordering from them again for food safety reasons. But if you do decide to order I would just order with caution and make sure to check ALL of your drinks to make sure they’re making them correctly and not putting the wrong or mystery ingredients in them. This was my first time visiting this location with my daughter. My daughter has been wanting to try boba tea for a few months. When I found out about this location, we decided to try it out! I was initially concerned about parking bc it is Carytown but we pulled right up in front of the store. We entered & it was very welcoming! I explained this was our first time and the rep explained everything and all the options available. We decided to go with the Starwberry Virgin Mojitos and added the strawberry flavored jellies. They were pretty darn tasty! It took me a while to get used to the jellies coming up the straw, I didnt expect thay for some reason lol! We also decided to try some macarons! We had red velvet, birthday cake, strawberry lychee & cotton candy. The cotton candy was my favorite & my daughter loved the birthday cake! They were very rich, sugary and softer than they look! Stopped by for bubble tea left unsatisfied and disappointed. I ordered the mango passionfruit tea with black honey bubbles. First look had me concerned because it was brown in color with muddled looking black bubbles, when I asked about the color the guy rudely informed me it was orange not brown(refer to pic from menu). First sip made me gag I immediately removed the bubbles I slurped up into a napkin and went to the register. The bubbles had not a hint of honey more like a chalk and dust taste with the texture of the gooey stuff from a fruit gusher. As soon as I approached the register I let the young lady know how unpleasant my tea was in which she responds I'm sorry no exchange or refund.
