Fountain Lake & Boat Lake — Attraction in Richmond

Went on Sunday 7/3 to a jazz event ..the event was so so.. but the stairs was horrible down that hill I saw many older ladies and men who almost fell going down and up Fix those stairs!! Please our VETERANS and elderly need to have a safe way to get down that hill this is unacceptable!! I will not be returning.. especially if I have to go on that side of park for an event first and last time seeing a concert.i was more concerned with the people going up and down the stairs than the concert.. just horrible fix those steps you all get enough money for parks and recreation to fix and build them up to line up with the step wood logs you have there..really?!! Uggh a NO for me.. park seems nice though wished I took pics of steps I was to worried about falling up...

Pretty area with a fountain and paddle boat rental. I wish the rentals started earlier in the year or had canopies, because it's too hot in high summer to paddle around with no shade.

Unfortunately, like the rest of the park, it is permanently overrun by non-migrating Canada Geese. The whole area is covered in mind boggling amounts of goose poop year round and it seems the parks department has abandoned any kind of population control. There is a large population of pigeons in the picnic area that is bothersome as well, but it's nothing compared to the geese.

There is a large field for sun bathing that is pet free. I think the idea was to keep the area clean and keep dogs from annoying sun bathers, but the goose poop means no one really...

I love going to Byrd Park to walk and talk with a friend. It is a nice big open section of nature with the ponds, trees, and walking areas. My one and only complaint is that it is overrun with Canadian Geese poop!! It is EVERYWHERE!! You seriously cannot take your eyes off of the ground for more than a few seconds!! I found it becomes quite a challenge to not let that ruin what is otherwise a very nice area in downtown Richmond. Please, PLEASE, if anyone connected with Richmond Parks reads this; Please correct this. I would love to take a book and a blanket down there in several weeks once Spring is here, but there is no possible way for me to do that now because...
