The fish in the fish tacos was more like a fish stick than a filet… The food was sooooooo mediocre… like I made it myself. Instead of this place go to plaza azteca or Mexico restaurant. All three of these places have the same regular boring food.
Edited to add regarding the response I received: I don’t argue with wait staff regarding what I receive on my plate after I place my order. If it’s sitting there on my plate then I assume that the best representation of what you serve is being offered. Hence why I gave the review on the dish I ordered. Furthermore I didn’t see it necessary to comment to my server because she seemed overwhelmed being the ONLY person servicing the restaurant and patio on a Saturday at midday in Carytown. She’s not responsible for cooking the food as well is she? Maybe she is because she was rude but I didn’t hold it against her because like I said she seemed very overwhelmed. Again I don’t argue about what I receive. I eat what I’m given, pay my bill and I may or may not return. Given this snarky response I definitely won’t return though. Like I said Richmond has a ton of other Mexican options to choose from. Have...
Read moreAs we were passing through Richmond, we decided to get Mexican food before we headed home. We saw the reviews of this place, and figured it would be a great place to eat.
We were seated, and we ordered two sodas and chips and salsa. We ordered our food, and I asked for the steak fajita taco salad.
We got our food, and I noticed my taco salad had chicken instead of steak. I let our host/server know I ordered steak, and she replied that she wrote down chicken. I let her know that's not what I ordered. She asked if I still wanted the chicken, and I let her know that I would like steak as I ordered. She seemed put off by this.
I got the my steak fajita taco salad, and she left the table to check on an outdoor customer. As I was in the middle of a bite, she quipped, "Is that better?"
Fortunately I didn't reply, but that interaction told me that customers are not listened to, and they get petty when a customer asks for their order to be corrected.
The food itself was good, which is the only reason this restaurant gets two stars. Other than that, be weary about going to...
Read moreWe adore warm and friendly hole in the wall restaurants, and traditional Tex-Mex is a favorite.
We visited the restaurant on a weekday for lunch, ordering from the weekday lunch menu. Our server was pleasant, and the service was quick. The chips were warm but unsalted, which is healthier but lacks flavor. The salsa, though runny, was quite tasty.
We both ordered from the lunch menu. While my husband received his order correctly, mine came as a dinner portion with two chicken chimichangas smothered in what looked like yummy cheese dip. I pointed out the mistake to the server, who took it back, saying she didn't realize I had ordered from the lunch menu. Several minutes later, I received the correct lunch portion, but without the cheese dip. I didn't mention it. The chicken was flavorful, and the chimichanga was well-cooked. My husband enjoyed his burrito. The unsweetened tea was weak but cold, and my husband appreciated his cold, reasonably priced beer.
We will be back and would both would enjoy outdoor dining on...
