Came here for a first date.. my reservation what's for 7:00 p.m. and I arrived at 6:45 and was immediately seated.. it took about 10 minutes before somebody finally came over and asked me if I would like anything.. my date had not yet arrived so I simply ordered the vegetarian sampler for two..
Once my date arrived around 7:05 the food eventually was delivered to our table and no one came back to check on us until around 7:30. After I asked the young lady busting the tables if she could get our waiter or waitress because at that point I wasn't sure who was waiting on me. Multiple weight staff passed by my table. Looked my direction but no one ever stopped to check to see if I was being taken care of.
My date and I finally ordered our food when somebody came over but then once they took our food order they disappeared and began waiting on everybody else around us and not once check to make sure we were good on drinks or to see if there was anything else we needed before our food came out..
At that point it was almost 8:00 p.m. and I was ready to just pay for what we did eat and drank and leave. And we expressed our disappointment to the waiter.. he was very apologetic and immediately after he walked away our food came out. I asked for the check and for some boxes. We still ate and I still left them a 20% tip.
After we expressed our disappointment in the lack of service, we were receiving all of a sudden this service improved immediately, but at that point it was too little too late.
The food was very good and it's a very nice atmosphere, especially if it's a date night or a special occasion. But the service that I and my date received was it's so horrible that I will definitely not be returning.. especially as I watched diners who were there after me get immediate attention from the server but my date and I had to sit and wait and then chase somebody down in order to simply put in...

When I first heard about this place I was excited to go because I heard the food and serving was exquisite. To my surprise, it was the exact opposite. The food was okay but nothing special, however, I can’t even tell you if it was good because I wasn’t able to fully even finish my food because the staff was literally trying to grab my plate as I was MID-eating & even though my plate was full. The waiter was running around trying to grab people’s plates while they were eating and that was just so rude because it wasn’t even time for the restauraunt to close and there were so many other tables there of people eating. Then they grabbed the checks as well, and I believe I spent a total of 15 minutes eating and I was extremely sad because I couldn’t finish my food. I have never been treated like this and they were trying to kick my group out for what reason I can’t even think of. We were extremely polite and the only reason I can think of why they treated us like this is because of our ethnicity. They have racism towards Bangladeshis because when our group told them we were Bangladeshi, that’s when they started treating us horribly. From the nasty glares from the owner/head waiter, I presume, from the rushing our orders and food, the service was the worst service I have ever received. This establishment needs way better staffing and better food as well. To the person replying to the reviews, instead of pretending to say you’re sorry and going to make changes, how about you actually make changes toward this restauraunt, because I will NEVER ever recommend this restaurant to my family, my friends, or even my worst enemy. If I could give a -0...
Read moreNestled in the heart of carytown, Tulsi is not just a restaurant; it's an immersive journey into the soul of India. From the moment you step inside, the rich aromas of cardamom, cumin, and coriander transport you to the bustling streets of Mumbai or the serene backwaters of Kerala. The ambiance is a harmonious blend of traditional and contemporary, with intricately carved wooden panels juxtaposed against modern lighting, creating an atmosphere that is both elegant and inviting.
The menu at Tulsi is a carefully curated collection of regional specialties, each dish a testament to the diversity and complexity of Indian cuisine. The samosas are perfectly crisp and filled with a savory mixture of spiced potatoes and peas. In my 3 trips to this restaurant I’ve had had the pleasure to try their chicken, lamb, goat, and shrimp they all are always cooked to perfection they melt in your mouth, infused with a smoky, earthy flavor no matter what sauce you put it in.
But it's not just the food that makes Tulsi exceptional; it's the impeccable (Quick) service and attention to detail. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate, always ready to guide you through the menu and offer recommendations based on your preferences. And let's not forget the desserts – the fried dough is heavenly, each bite a burst of sweet, syrupy goodness, while the icecream is a refreshing and creamy nutty delight.
