I've played Magic the Gathering since 1996. In that time I've seen many shops come and go. Had good times and bad Today was the first time I went to a shop and was completely blown away by the service and respect received.I dropped off a collection of cards. And accessories for them to be evaluated. For sale Dropped off my items. In binders and some cards double sleeved Did not receive a phone call and I find out The offer until I called a week later. I respectfully decided to decline the Offer was too low, for what I needed. I come back in to retrieve my collection only to find every single one of my items removed from sleeves removed from binders, tossed into a loose box not even a card box had to ask for my binder and sleeves and top loaders that were conveniently left in the back which were also used to protect a completely dismantled 20 year old sliver, queen deck. When I asked and protested why everything was removed, and not it very least, the high-end cards, put back into guard back into sleeves. I received nothing but "Sorry I but I assure you they were treated with the utmost respect." Well, if they were treated with the utmost respect shouldn't be higher end cards, some worth upwards of six hundred dollars including alpha and beta error cards be put in at least a soft sleeve. Zero compensation, for For the damaged done. Just repeated "sorry we did respect you property here we tossed it in a box" I do not, I repeat do not ever recommend dropping off anything for evaluation or to be sold to one-eyed Jacks. Otherwise you will be stuck having to sell to them or just have your property destroyed This is my current evaluation of the store and staff, needles to say I will not be returning to them.

Love One Eyed! This is your best stop Headquarters to find all your gaming needs. Tons of board games, a lot you can't get elsewhere. D&D, Pokémon, Magic and many more. We get all our miniatures and painting supplies here. Great selection of puzzles as well. You also haven't seen all the different dice that they have. Number of tables in the back where people come to play games. I know they have certain games on particular nights where you can go play with other people or even learn how to play. They have been around for as long as I can remember and always a fun place to check out anytime.

The staff is friendly. Quick to help if you have questions. I came here to hang out ans play magic but ended up meeting some cool people playing some other random game. No idea what I played but it was a lot of fun. The place is very small and the walls and ceiling show their age. Their inventory is up-to-date. It is nice to see boxes not covered in dust! The calendar out front is great to check what's happening as you walk down carry street.

This pains me to say. I have supported this LGS for as long as I can, because I want to support the business. But wow…they have really made it difficult over the last year plus. My friends and I are obsessed with Magic The Gathering, and we used to do pre-release, boxes, etc from here. It has always been a little higher on the price point than others, but the extra 5% was worth it to support them. I know that a lot of LGS got burned during 2022-23 with the onslaught of MTG product that was released and didn’t move, so I get the hesitancy to buy deep and price competitively, because getting stuck with it means you lose a ton of money. But during the stabilizing of the market, OEJ has gotten even crazier with pricing. Boxes at $30-75 higher than anywhere else in the Richmond area, limited to no stock, not offering pre-sale on tons of sets because they want to wait until release day to see how much the price has risen and then charge an extra 10-25% higher than market price…it’s been crazy. Pack pricing has been stable, maybe a little high, but boxes are higher than anywhere else you will find. Example: LOTR set booster being sold at other LGS anywhere from $165-$190…OEJ is selling for $230+…why? Additionally, I love to trade in cards because even if I’m not getting the full value, I know OEJ can flip them for more and make extra money off them, thus supporting them while getting some store credit. They are not only buylist low, but lower than anywhere else in RVA. I just don’t get it. They have enough business to keep afloat, which is a great thing bc I want them be around forever, but either they lost a ton of money on MTG in 2022-23, or they are pushing the limits of what the market will bear…and I cannot endorse anyone spending money on MTG product here. You want great board game? This is the place. Want to play some commander on Friday night? Sure, this will do. But save your money on purchasing MTG until they come back down to earth. A real bummer, hope it changes so my friends and I can go back to dropping $300 plus every few months on some great new product and feeling like we got our moneys worth. The staff is usually great, but these...

While I'm a big TCG fan, I came to the store with the goal of finding an expansion to a board game that's often sold out and they actually had even more than what I was looking for! I really want to shout out Sam and Bay because, even though I'm not from the area, this is the first tcg/board game store I've been to where employees ACTUALLY played the games and had great thoughts on them. I came in looking for ROOT and left with a dozen photos of board games to buy from them in the future on my phone because as soon as I found a new board game that sounded cool, they immediately had more recommendations and answers to every question I had. I'll definitely be back to get AHOY, and they even gave me a business card and explained their in-store pick up and online ordering process. I had such a blast talking about board games to people who genuinely enjoyed them and clearly liked working at the store. I should mention that OEJ's selection of board games is massive, so I know I'll be broke next time I'm in town because I will definitely be stopping by. For anyone who likes board games, definitely ask for Sam or Bay because they were super sweet and helpful, and if one person didn't know the board game, the other did. They were super nice about stepping away when a line got long, and I never felt patronized or ignored. If the rest of the employees are like them, then I can't recommend this store enough! Thank you guys for the great experience! I will definitely recommend you guys and stop by next time...
