Y'all. I was reading a freaking 1 * review of this place and thought "wow. this person is really upset at this restaurant for just existing. It must be a reflection of who they are as a person and not actually of this fine dining establishment." Then I saw the person who wrote it was MY MOM. 💀🤦♀💀 First of all, she's dead wrong. Her review has nothing to do with this restaurant and everything to do with her unhealed childhood trauma. If you think she's critical of Larry's, try being her daughter. Second, my husband and I cannot think of a better way to unwind after a workday than tucking into Larry's fresh hot salsa and delicious perfectly seasoned fajitas. Larry's has THE world's best cheese enchiladas. I've been getting their fajita taco dinner for 30 years and it tastes the exact same: perfection, the ultimate comfort food. Their caramelized onions are what taught me to love onions as a kid. The service is always exceptional and the staff is friendly and exceedingly professional. My husband and I love the ambiance, I hope they never change it, it's so relaxing. It's cool and quiet but not to quiet and perfectly dim but not dark. I cannot stress what a pleasurable sensory experience this place is for the easily overstimulated, especially after a long hard day. Larry's is a heart and soul Richmond institution and I hope they are for decades to come. It's where the locals eat, but anyone from the Greater Houston area in need of Tex-Mex excellence will not be disappointed, unless they are as unhealed as my mom. Dear Larry's family and staff: do not listen to her, y'all are killing it and just as good as you ever were! I would know, I've gone to y'all way more than she has in the last 30 years! Cannot wait for my next fajita taco dinner! Thank you for the great food and memories! 😘...
Read moreWe live in Wharton Tx and used to frequent the "Larry's" located there. Unfortunately, after Covid, this location never reopened. Upon seeing and realizing that "The ORIGINAL Larry's" was in Richmond, we decided to stop in. Though the building is older and may deter some, the interior is SPOTLESS, and the employees are VERY FRIENDLY! We quickly realized that thou the two restaurants "shared" a name, they were quite different. (Came to learn that the Wharton location had been -owned? - run by a relative, who ultimately wasn't as successful.) The "ORIGINAL" didn't offer breakfast (Wharton's did - all day) but they certainly made up for this difference with an abundance of DELICIOUS sounding dishes!! Astoundingly, they even had an "all chicken" based combination meal!! A MAJOR plus, as hubby has health issues that preclude him from most other meat sources!! (Beef - can't eat due to Gastroparesis; seafood - allergic; Pork - only in moderation and MUST be nearly fat-free.) Anyway, we BOTH ordered the all chicken combo meal and BOY, OH BOY was it GOOD!!! I've been living TX for nearly 11 years, and though there are MANY "Mexican" restaurants - offering everything from "Authentic" to Tex-Mex and all in between - but in all that time, I've not found one that I would brag about. "THE ORIGINAL" has now...
Read moreDecided to have lunch at Larry's and was sat in a separate room near the restrooms. We asked to be seated in the main dining as there was an awful smell in this room. We ordered our meals 2 meals off the kids menu and a plate from lunch menu. It took about 30 minutes for my children to get their meals and I was still mine would be coming out soon. My charro beans were brought to me but I never got my food and the kids were already almost finished eating their food. I asked for my plate to be cancelled as people who were arriving way after I did already had their food. The waiter was not very attentive, never brought condiments my son asked for. Once my waiter was notified that I had cancelled my plate because we were ready to go he brought over a ticket charging me separately for the beans that were still sitting on the table that was part of my lunch plate that never came out. I told the owner of what occured and he just gave excuses. I understand that it was after the storm and that had been closed without power for a couple days but there is absolutely no excuse to never get my food especially when what I believe to be "their regulars" had already got theirs when they arrived after my family did. Owner didn't care he just went back and sat with his friends that were having...
