Moore Street Café, ensconced in Richmond's bustling cityscape, is a delectable anomaly. At first glance, it might look like just another diner, but step inside, and you're immediately whisked away into an enchanted world of eclectic charm and heartwarming gastronomy.
The décor is a whimsical hodgepodge of vintage charm and artful eccentricities. Every corner is adorned with a surprise, and each piece of decoration has a story, creating a dynamic dining backdrop that's a feast for the eyes. Tucked away in the back is a delightful secret - a cozy little bar, unexpected yet seamlessly integrated, that adds a dash of mystique to the café's character.
Now, let's dive into the culinary part of our journey. The sausage gravy and biscuits are a standout, harkening back to simpler times of home-cooked comfort food. The biscuits are fluffy and buttery, cradling the rich, peppery sausage gravy like a culinary sonnet. The gravy, flecked with generous chunks of sausage, is a velvety elixir that awakens the palate with its savory depth.
The accompaniment of eggs, cooked precisely to your preference, and bacon, perfectly crisp and wonderfully salty, further elevate this humble dish. Each component shines on its own, but together they harmonize into a symphony of satisfying flavors and textures.
Moore Street Café is more than a breakfast spot; it's a place where food, art, and nostalgia intermingle, creating an ambience that's as captivating as its menu. Whether you're a local seeking a change of pace or a visitor in search of an authentic Richmond experience, this café is a discovery worth making. It's a vibrant love letter to home-style breakfasts, a testament to the allure of unexpected charm, and an unforgettable journey...
Read moreThis place has always had great food I used to come here every single day. I ended up getting a job on the other side of town and haven't been here in about a year-and-a-half. I came today to get just a simple chicken biscuit for pickup. The lady at the asked if I was okay with a 15% gratuity added to my bill. In which I stated no not at this time.
She then proceeded to run my credit card after it went through she said okay thank you and went to close the window. I then asked her if I could get a copy of my receipt in which she then print it off and hand it to me. As I walk away I see that she added a 15% gratuity.
When I tip I usually tip 25% however this was just a quick morning pick up before I went to work which is why I did not eat inside also to provide them with more room to serve other customers.
To me when you add a 15% or any gratuity after a customer has stated no they're not okay with that no matter what the amount is that is completely wrong and dishonest.
I would warn customers before eating here to double check your receipt if it is a pickup order to verify that they did not add 15% gratuity like they did myself.
I understand everybody is hurting a little bit in the restaurant industry however I'm a struggling guy myself. It's not so much the little bit of money that you took from me it's mainly the dishonesty from your employee.
This was going to be my everyday breakfast spot now that I'm working back on this side of town however with what happened this morning it cost them a lot more in the long run. Great food but...
Read moreWe stopped in and dined after the Ukrop 10K. We thought it would be the perfect place to carb load after the 6 miler. I am not a local so I always take the direction of the locals when it comes to places like this. The locals reviews were stunning.
We arrived at the cafe and put our name on the list. It was a cute vibe, like a retro diner. There was also a to-go window you could order at if you just wanted to pick up.
We anticipated a wait for our party of 5. The wait process was super efficient. You add your name, they send you a text, and then you can track your progress via the link sent to you. We got seated about 45 minutes after arriving, our server came to us fairly quickly after being seated and was attentive, and knowledgable about the menu.
I love pancakes, I travel all over and try different pancakes. So, when they said the best pancakes in Richmond I thought I was in for a treat. When I got them they were flat, cold, and there was nothing special about the batter. I also ordered salmon cakes (which were the special for the day), and hash browns, with peppers and onions, (in the photo there is cheese on them but this was an error and they brought me out fresh ones with no cheese). As for the the salmon cakes they were really mushy on the inside and lacked flavor, and the potatoes were cooked well from a texture perspective but they didn't have any seasoning.
I will say they Moore Street Cafe staff has mastered the logistics and their customer service is top tier which I can certainly appreciate. However, the food is...
