While I sympathize with low staffing issues and the pressures of a rush, I feel like the experience I had here is evident that the establishment should have just not been open this night.
I pulled up to the drive through speaker, and watched the person ahead of me pull up to the window, pay, wait, and be served, before I was even greeted or acknowledged. It was as if they couldn't eve take a new order until the previous order was completed in full.
When finally asked for my order, I specifically said I wanted two PLAIN burgers with meat and bun only, a small fry, and a medium Mr. Pibb with no ice. It's not a complicated order.
After paying, I was handed a drink, and immediately noticed it had ice. I was disappointed, but it's not the end of the world. I took a quick sip to find it wasn't even soda, it was sweet tea. I told the lady at the window that she must have given me someone else's drink, and reminded her I had ordered a Mr Pibb with no ice. She looked ar the counter and said, "oh, HERE is a Mr Pibb with no ice!" and handed it to me, but I thought the cup was small. Just then, a man at the walk-up window said, "where's my small Mr Pibb with no ice?" so I watched her fill a new cup and hand it to him, and as I suspected, that was the size she handed me. So not only did she give me two drinks that belonged to other people, but I still did not have the medium drink I had asked and paid for. So I asked her again for MY drink, and she finally gave it to me. Then she handed me the food bag, and I knew better than to leave without checking it. Sure enough, the burgers were not plain as I had ordered them, they had cheese. Lactose intolerance cannot forgive this error, so again, I had to ask for them to correct the mistake. They gave me two new plain burgers, and I was finally on my way.
As annoying as it was to have my order botched so badly, I can't help but think there's no way the restaurant was making very good money, if I got almost two full orders for the price of my one (I just didn't get a second order of fries), because they were too stressed out to pay attention the first time through. My order was not the only one messed up, which means several people were unhappy, and those poor employees had more work than they could handle, on top of disgruntled patrons. I did not raise my voice or demand a refund, but many people DO make a fuss over the slightest mistake, and abuse employees to get discounted or free food, and putting the employees in such a stressful situation is unfair, and not worth the minimal profits being made while operating at...
