I came here going against my intuition. Not my first time eating here but the convenience of its location (I work in the same business plaza) and the fact that my car is in the shop is the reason I went against my right mind out of hunger. The first 3 times I ate here it was for breakfast. I got the Tululah Potatoes... Each time they were sitting in a puddle of grease. I'd have to strain out the grease from the container and then dab the potatoes with a napkin. Disappointing. My colleague also got the chorizo breakfast burrito and the grease from the chorizo was pretty bad. He couldn't even eat it. Chorizo is naturally greasy but that's why you take the extra step to strain the grease... they clearly skip that step. On one of the occasions of me picking up my food, I seen a cute cute dog in the kitchen where the cooks were prepping the food. Now I am a HUGE ANIMAL lover and I bring my dog to work with me but I do not work in the food industry. I felt that was extremely unsanitary no matter how adorable he/she was. Well, This time I got lunch and ordered the mushroom sandwich since that it something you can't mess up on. I took one bite and immediately regretted giving them another try. No flavor on the sandwich at all and I got like 3 strips of bell peppers. Definitely over priced for what they serve. $17.00 down the drain. At least I enjoyed my lime sparkling water. The staff is nice! Sometimes the lady with the short curly blonde hair can be rude or short but the other employees make up for that.
Unfortunately I will not be coming here again.
A good spot to have coffee and a one on one type meeting tho. Outdoor...
Read moreThis is our favorite lunch spot in Richmond, by far. We have an extremely low tolerance for subpar ingredients, and Artisan seems to share our high standards. Considering the ingredients and quality control, this restaurant offers incredible value. We normally can’t afford the restaurants we like so we are so grateful for this gem.
Everything is fresh. The BLAT is my favorite sandwich, it’s reliably good. The crab sandwich is amazing. The fries are excellent. The tasty chipotle mayo has a nice kick and is homemade. The Spanish cheesecake is superb and really tastes like a proper basque cheesecake (a true treat). The Bundt cakes are perfect too. The menu and each dish is clearly crafted with care, and the owner / chef is often on site (this makes such a difference for restaurant quality, in my experience). And the staff is so lovely, it’s always a genuine joy to engage.
They have a cute and welcoming outdoor area for eating, but we usually like to take our meal over to nearby Armistice Brewery where we pair our meal with a top-notch beer. Come on a weekday for a tranquil vibe. This is a top-tier...
Read moreI'm not sure how TAK only has 3.9 stars. I visited the cafe yesterday for the first time and was blown away by the staff, chef, and palate experience! Everyone was extremely nice, helpful, and patient with my indecisiveness. The chef asked me a couple questions about preferred tastes, then created one of the best pulled pork sandwiches I've ever had. No garbage in the meat, just pure flavor decadence. I lived in the southeast for several years and tried all the "best" pulled pork establishments around. They can't compare with what I had at TAK. The side salad and potato salad were easily the best I've tasted as well. Everything was very fresh, but the flavors of the dressing (scratch/handmade?) and potato salad will unfortunately become my new standard, which will undoubtedly leave me disappointed when having the same items elsewhere.
TAK's food screams thoughtfulness, pursuit of excellence, attention to detail, and pure love. Spend 30 seconds talking to the chef and you'll understand why she's so good at her craft. Well done, Chef....
