BLUF: Great diner style food and the fizzy, fresh limeade really is as good as everyone says! Downside: server issues, seat yourself, bathrooms.
I'm so torn to only give a 4-star review. There's soo much I love here, namely the fizzy, fresh limeade, onion rings, bologna burger, fries, chipped beef gravy on toast ($h*t on Shingles) and all the cute shopping in the store.
Downsides: We've been 3x. The bathrooms are single occupancy, have a foul water/sewer smell and are located right behind the kitchen. The 2 bathrooms have been unclean each time. They do not have inclusive signage.
The seating is Seat Yourself which would be okay, but it's very busy/hectic, and they seem understaffed so service is not really FCFS. We waited to be acknowledged yesterday for 20+ minutes while trying to get a server's attention but we both felt intentionally ignored. I am guessing because of staffing issues. I considered walking up to a server and asking for the next available server to please take our drink order, but didn't want to bother them as they already seemed to have more work than they could manage. We decided to eat elsewhere. When we left, no one noticed or tried to stop us...
Read moreThis place is an institution. Its located in one of the best pharmacies in town and I know that Shannon is one of their top pharmacists. And while you are waiting for your meds you can have a very delicious meal. The hamburgers with that grilled taste are divine. Homemade soups are equal to your mothers...especially the bean soup. There is always a wonderful selection of specials from crab cakes to meatloaf. Decadent sweets. Good food..good prices and a wonderful staff. Pinky and Lisa are long time standouts here. They treat you like family. The owner of the fountain is always friendly and appreciative of your business. I wonder why anyone would go to CVS OR Walgreens when you have this unbeatable combination. If you live farther out you go to Westwood its cousin. I am very grateful to the Oleys who have served this area unselfishly and devotedly for years. What a gift to...
Read moreA diner in a pharmacy? Who's ever heard of such a thing. I can grab breakfast and Zzzquil in one go, nice.
"The Special" was Chef name redacted's take on a deconstructed skillet. Nice chunky potatoes, a good slab of egg, and crispy crispy bacon. I think it works. Pardon my impatience as I added ketchup and hot sauce to the potatoes before taking the picture (sorry boss). The coffee was definitely coffee. The service was efficient and polite Mr. "Call Me Whatever You Want" was getting the job done, and quickly. The ambiance was sort of halfway between a pharmacy and a diner, leaning more towards the diner side. I'd recommend this spot, and I'll be back next time I need breakfast and a jigsaw puzzle in one convenient stop.
P.S. bonus points for having Texas Pete hot sauce already...
