Young Hustler Coffee — Restaurant in Richmond

Update October 2022: We have returned to Young Hustler several times since our first review, and they consistently deliver great lattes and exceptional service. The pumpkin cream latte continues to reign supreme as the best version of this drink we have ever tasted. The blue dreams latte is a nearly indescribable and wonderful delight - creamy, warm, cozy, sweet, but with the coffee notes still shining through. The Cozened Indigo was similarly excellent with vibrant fruity flavors like coconut, ube, and raspberry. The cortado was great and I picked up notes of milk chocolate, hazelnut, and cinnamon. We will continue to come back and try more of their creative and delicious coffee creations!

Previous review 2021: Lots of parking outside. Very cool aesthetic inside with a vinyl station, artwork on the walls, a cool assortment of coffee brewing equipment, and succulents - very cozy. Good amount of outlets for those looking to study/work. Wifi works great.

We tried to order the tamales but they were out so we got a Danish pastry instead along with a cappuccino and their signature iced pumpkin latte. The Danish pastry was toasty, warm, and puffy with a gooey cherry center. Very delicious and surprisingly filling. The iced pumpkin spice latte was a perfect cocktail of fall flavors with the essential caffeine fix. 100% would come back here again for this. The cappuccino was much less impressive - it was served just slightly warm and the foam was terribly textured. I suspect the milk wasn't warmed/foamed long enough with the steam wand. Served like this, I definitely can't recommend the cappuccino and can't really assess the cafe's house blend of beans they roast in house.

Definitely will come back for the pumpkin spice latte and a snack, might try a different espresso based...

I placed an order on Door Dash today at 11:25 am for 5 items shown below in pictures. The estimated delivery time on Door Dash's website said 30 minutes. Yes, I do understand what an estimate is. In one of the pictures below it shows how close we are to this cafe. The email receipt showed a delivery time of 12:00 to 12:15 pm. It was over 30 minutes, but not by much so no big deal. I check the Door Dash app to see the status which jumped to 12:45 to 12:58. That was ridiculous. At that point it was an hour for delivery, then it jumped again to 1:00 to 1:13 pm. For and order of 5 items made at 11:25 am. I on general to not like to complain, but this is far beyond acceptable. I like that this place offers a lot of things and that they are independent, but this is just bonkers. They could have declined my order if they found they were swamped, or called and canceled. It would admittedly been annoying, but not as annoying as waiting over an hour and a half for our order. This is not the first time I have had to wait longer than necessary for an order from this place. I kept trying because I like independent places, but this is too much. I even tried to call and there...

Nice local coffee shop . Wife and I wanted to try this place out seeing the unique coffee . I ordered topo Chico espresso and she ordered ube coffee.

I must say as strange as carbonated may sound it was quite good. Carbonation brought out all the notes of the coffee. Can't imagine trying on not as fresh coffee beans.

My wife really loved her drink. Very nice subtle taste of Ube, and creamyness from condense milk, which made it a bit sweet but very good I would recommend it.

We also ordered empanadas and lumpia. Both were a huge let down . This is a coffee shop so didn't expect much from the food but knowing one of the owners is flippino was a bit disappointing. My wife family is flippino so we have had our fair share of foods and from different places never this bad. Empanadas were well stuffed but again lack of flavor .

Lastly this is one of the few that does not wear mask . Most restaurant and shops I have been to have there employees mask up. With the rise this is quite...
