What a disappointment!
We had reservations for 6:00 for a Father’s Day dinner. We got there and were promptly seated. We then waited over 15 minutes for someone to come to our table and take our drink order. That was the best part of the evening. It only went downhill from there.
We ordered the bacon jam appetizer, pork chop special, Cajun pasta, a chicken dish and a simple medium rare burger without cheese.
The bread for the bacon jam was over seasoned and overwhelmed the bacon jam. Three out of the four dishes were good but not great. We finished our drinks but couldn’t get them refilled because no one came back to check on us.
The biggest issue was the burger. First, it came out with cheese on it which was immediately noticed by the server. He took the burger and about 15 minutes later returned with the same burger which was now cold and had scraped off most of the cheese but still had some remnants of cheese on it. We were horrified. We sent it back again so that we could get a new, fresh burger. About 15 minutes later they returned with the same burger that was now charred and extremely over cooked. We were shocked that they brought us back the same burger three times! We could not eat it. By the third time that they brought it back, everyone else had already eaten their meals. We were so disgusted we left the charred remains of the original burger and instead went to Perry’s to get a delicious, perfectly cooked burger.
We have eaten here before and the food was always good. This time was a debacle. We did ask to speak to the manager and discovered the server who brought us that charred, over cooked burger was the manager!
This was the worst meal and service I think we have ever had at any restaurant - and we have eaten at restaurants all over the world. Ramble Creek really needs to look at the servers and management if they want to keep their doors open.
It should be mentioned that while they ultimately comped the meal, this in no way made up for ruining our special Father’s Day...
Read moreI can't deny that the food is decent, not amazing, but decent enough for the price.
This was my first visit and the service was pretty bad, my friends insisted the service wasn't typically this bad. However, the place was not very busy and there were plenty of staff members. During the course of the visit three separate employees asked us what we wanted to drink at various times, took our order, and when we tried to address our missing items.
Just a run down:
We asked for our drinks which about half of us received drinks, while my wife and I didn't receive our drinks until after we've eaten most of our food. We asked for drinks multiple times over, from all three people that came to our table. I'm not talking about alcohol or cocktails, I'm talking about a diet coke. It takes 10 seconds to get a diet coke.
The food was decent, but they gave me the wrong order. It seemed to be a casual mistake since there was some kind of hatch chile sandwhich and a similar non-hatch chile equivalent.
We did order alcohol all at the same time, but all 3 drinks came at random times through the meal. I didn't actually receive mine until I asked about it and the meal was essentially over at the point.
My wife's meal was cold, not just kind of cool, but approaching room temperature. She typically doesn't say anything, but I asked about it and heard nothing back.
Maybe they were just having a bad night, but I'm not sure I'll be visiting again just to have a similar experience. While the food was relatively decent, it wasn't great enough to bother dealing with shoddy service. I ultimately refused to pay for the diet coke, but if I had known my wife received food that had been allowed to cool down, I would have refused...
Read moreRamble Creek Grill in Richmond, Texas is a smaller establishment notable for its food and drink. I have visited here a couple of times and the wife and I continue to return, mainly for the drinks, beer, and appetizers.
Inside Ramble Creek, guests will notice an atmosphere that features wood, brick, and maroon colors with soft lighting. The inside tends toward the small side and there are no separate rooms. That means it can get rather noisy on weekends during dinner hours, when the restaurant is at its peak.
The menu at Ramble Creek is limited, and I like that it doesn’t have too many options. I’m not a fan of restaurants that feature ten page or longer menus because it makes selecting something to eat too much of a challenge. Ramble Creek limits the selections, making the choice a much simpler one. Most who dine here will go for the burgers, steaks, or sandwiches for the main course. I recommend adding an appetizer, like the chili cheese fries, to complete your meal.
Drinks are another important reason to visit Ramble Creek. They serve several different craft beers and many specialty drinks. My wife tried the peppermint old fashioned the last time she was here and really liked what she experienced. The whiskey selection is extensive, and if you're a fan of this type of spirit, you will have fun tasting/sampling from such a large, varied lot.
Ramble Creek Grill is located southwest of downtown Houston, right next to the Grand Parkway. It’s a smaller place, but big on taste and definitely a good option if you want American style food and...
