Sofrito — Restaurant in Ridgefield Park

The food here is okay most days which is understandable. Nobody is robot and expected to be perfect in taste. I just kept going because it is close by and I don’t want to travel far to the real good places. But I went in today just to get a plate of food. The lady starts off with a somewhat attitude which I try to look pass. Then attitude continues because I don’t speak Spanish. So she hands the plate to the lady to serve the rice and instead of tending to me. I completely get ignored and she gets on the phone texting. Now it’s time to pay. I have her the money in her hand like what normal sensible human will do. And like a Buffon, she completely ignores my stretched out hand when giving me my change. And places it on the counter and turn around around.

To owner: watch her, she is bad for business, I already know 3 other people that will not step foot in there because of attitude. She is bad for business. And very wasteful. Gave me 14 utensils for one plate of food.

To the Buffon: just cause I don’t speak Spanish don’t mean I don’t understand enough. My Dominican wife ensures it. So that comment saying another black guy is stupid. Next person might do worse than check u like I did.

I would give less than one. I simply CALLED just to ask if the Roast Pork Special comes with rice, just to ensure because it doesn’t say on their mobile ordering options. The lady did not even try for one second to listen to my question, as soon I asked my question in english, because my spanish skills are poor and telephones have a way of messing with communication, she simply walks to a man and tells him in spanish “here it’s some white girl trying to order”, the man gets on the phone and I ask my question, he tells me “I no listen” so I repeated my question, this went on 4 more times until he says “I no listen I can’t help you” so I say “I’m just trying to order-“ and before I could finish with, but I just have a question, he quickly asks “okay what can I get you” so I hung up. You can somehow understand with no difficulties “I’m just trying to order” but not my question. So don’t waste your time, because I making sure not waste mine. I just went for lunch based on the good reviews. The place is clean with plenty of seating. The food did not look appetizing like it did on the review pictures. The roasted chicken was cooked unevenly, half of it was so overcooked it was like trying to chew leather. I asked for another peice of chicken since half the chicken they gave me was burnt and they brought me another peice free of charge. The peice they brought was under cooked, pink inside. I didn't want to be a bother so i just have up on the chicken. The rice and beans were average at best. There was only white rice as an option for the hit buffet, I went because i wanted puerto Rican rice, after all the place is called sofrito. My friends beef had soft peices and hard peices he couldn't eat. Unfortunately we didn't have a good lunch. But the place is very clean with nice seating.
