Newk's Eatery — Restaurant in Ridgeland

We have gone to this Newk's location for years and have never had an employee interaction like this before. Lately when we have been coming to eat, we order the Pick 2, cup of soup and small mac and cheese. We went to the order station and the server, who we have seen work there for a while now, punched in my mother's order wrong. While my mother and I were confirming to each other that the order was wrong on the screen, the server heard the conversation and with the rudest, most vile tone said, "Fine I will fix it" while throwing her hands in the air, my mother tried to explain to her that we were talking to each other; leading to the server getting her manager. The long dark haired manager was very helpful and tried to get our order correct, asking if we had remembered the previous employee who had helped us our last visit. The previous employee with long black hair and bangs came up to the counter and with the help of the manager completed our order but they also thoroughly explained how the system had been updated last Tuesday and that they were no longer able to do the small mac and cheese and the cup of soup, with the original server standing back not saying a single word after being extremely rude to us. We thanked the server and manager for helping us understand the new update and how we will have to order in the future. Once we had gotten our drinks and sat at our table, the manager came back to us to make sure everything was okay and then explained the system, once again, and then the app reward points.

We have come to this Newk's location for years, lately the food has either been a hit or miss and we keep going back in hopes of it being good. But this interaction made us have the conversation of not coming back to this location, especially if they allow their employees to speak to their guest this way. I do applaud the manger and the employee with long black hair with bangs for having outstanding customer service skills and being so kind, not just in the way they spoke to us, but in the way they explained the situation and made it...

Could have been MUCH better. As someone who worked for Newks for four years, helped open two stores, and absolutely loved it-I really hate to leave this review. When I came in the girl at the counter didn't greet me, and she made eye contact with me. I smiled at her and said hello, but she averted her eyes and ignored me. No one said the traditional "Hi-welcome to Newks". Even a manager walked past and didn't say anything. When you work in food long enough, you can kind of tell when something hasn't been cleaned or taken care of, and there were several spots in the store that just smelled like that. The tea station in particular was extremely messy and smelled like it hadn't been cleaned. Came home with my food and my sandwich hadn't been cut all the way through, and was missing plasticware from my bag. Sadly, my sandwich also wasn't warm-and I got there exactly 8 minutes later after placing the order since the store isn't far from me. The whole vibe this store gives off to me is lazy. It kind of feels like they're just doing the bare minimum to get by. This store just doesn't feel like it's holding up the Newk's Experience, which is really sad because that's a huge part of coming to Newk's. I wish I could have received the same level of customer experience that the previous patrons who left reviews did. As a previous employer of the Newk's franchise, I can't bring myself to give a store a super low review, because I've been behind that counter and know that sometimes days go better than others. The service is always very nice and friendly at this location. Lively sweet people who care. The food here is very good, too, although I would say that the lobster bisque can be a bit salty, but that's probably just me because it's still good to me though. I always love their salads, especially the Black & Bleu, and I would most definitely recommend that you order the southern salad and ask for lemon vinaigrette for the dressing; the flavor profiles pair very well together!!🍗🍋🥗 One menu item in particular I've come to love (and that I think is now my favorite sandwich from there) is the Newk's Cheesesteak🧀🥩🧅🥖💛, which I actually got tonight with a side of the fresh fruit (which was nice, chilled,and sweet🍇🍍🍈😋) as a to-go order. The steak is always cooked to perfection and just the right texture, and I love how the flavor profiles of the cheeses and the sweet caramelized onions along with the yellow and red bell peppers compliment each other between the bread.😋 They also have very good sweet tea and their caramel cake is delicious.🍰🤎 Overall it's a good place to get a delicious nice sized meal and one of the few less expensive places that's not necessarily fast food but also not necessarily fine dining/bar and grill type either, where you can go out to eat and at least try to get a decently balanced meal with a variety of options on the menu where most of everything isn't fried or always a starch...
