I am posting this review after having contacted one of the owner’s, Casey Waggener, and after having sent them a message on their website to contact me about my experience on Wednesday July 1st. They never responded. And if you read recently posted reviews, it’s apparent this place has made a turn for the worse with nothing seemingly being done about it. Arrive at 5:00 pm to a near empty restaurant. Sat at the bar. At 5:21pm Casey (one of the owner’s) asked if I have been helped. I hadn’t. So he apologized and poured me my beer. Finally Mia the bartender appears from the kitchen area. I order Onion Rings for an appetizer. After 20 minutes (in a nearly empty place) I ask about the status of my order. Another 10 minutes go by before my food is brought to me. Well, in TWO of my Onion Rings I find plastic, yes PLASTIC that I had to pull from my mouth. Both times showing it to Mia. Not once did she apologize or alert anyone (to my knowledge). After this I attended the restroom in the restaurant area. And what do they not have in the middle of a pandemic...Paper Towels. Which they didn’t have in that bathroom when I was there on Sunday June 28th, and Friday June 18th. How is that possible?!! As a good customer, I alerted Mia to this issue. So about 40-50 minutes go by and I have to use the restroom again. Well guess what, NO paper towels still?!! This is not only irresponsible but a major Health Code violation. Now I am upset. I voice my frustration to Mia about my experience. What do I get in return? The abrasive and condescending interaction with their Manager, Djuan. They did credit my Onion Rings but NEVER apologized ONCE for eating plastic or having restrooms without paper towels (on 3 separate occasions). I wasn’t thanked for letting them know about it either. All I got was excuses and a agitated tone of voice. He did give me info on how to contact the owners’ about my experience, but l got silence in return. WINNING FORMULA - Amazing Food, Great Customer Service, Fun & Clean Environment ** This is on their website. I sincerely beg...

My family and I went to Sal & Phil's on 3-18-2012. Our order was:
Shrimp Poboy + side of oysters Shrimp Poboy + Fries Fried Pickles RB Poboy Fish Poboy Crawfish
Our waiter brings out an order of crab claws. We inform him that we did not order them and he takes them away. Our poboys come out right behind the crab claws, brought out by a different waiter. We inform him that we are missing pickles. He fetches our original waiter and explains to him, at our table, that we did not get our pickles.
Our waiter then looks at us and remarks "You sure you talked to me?". Yep, we're sure you're the guy. We were shocked that he asked us this, because we were his only table (we were in there during off hours).
After the pickle incident, we realized that one of the poboys did not have half the side of fried oysters. Instead he received fries. At this point we were a bit flustered, and told the staff to scratch the order of oysters.
After eating our meal, which was delicious, we're waiting for our waiter to appear bringing us our bill. He never shows. One of our party was pregnant, she gets up to find the waiter. She catches him feet propped up, relaxing. She asks him for the ticket, to which he answers with - "I'm off the clock". I was flabbergasted.
Finally someone from the staff shows up with our ticket. Of course it was wrong - the crabfingers which we did not order were on the bill. The delicious food was ruined by the awful staff.
HOWEVER There was one member of the staff, who's name I can't remember, that was very helpful in resolving our problem.
So, if you want good food and don't mind risking bad service, stroll on in. Me personally, I'm a one strike and...
Read moreI'm acquainted with the owner so I won't give him a complete bad review because he does try and he does have some good food. The gumbo was really good and the crawfish were seasoned perfectly but the quality of the Crawfish I wasn't pleased with and I understand that sometimes that can't be controlled. There are some things he needs to work on when it comes to the atmosphere. The building is in poor condition. We pretty much ate in the dark, and with the sun going down, we felt a little rushed to eat before it got too dark. It isn't very clean inside; it feels muggy and sticky.
I was with a large group of people and only one person failed to get their food but they compt it and I was pleased to know that everything else was correct, so nothing bad to say about the service. I ordered the stuffed crab jalapeno bites; they were served cold pretty much and there was also a large chunk of batter that I thought was a jalapeno but there was nothing inside, so I'm not even sure if I got the proper quantity but she compt those as well because I just couldn't eat them.
Quality control is very important when serving food, but unfortunately, most restaurants don't know how to apply quality control. Other than that, it isn't the worst place to eat, but if they add more quality control to the food and a lot more housekeeping, it would be a lot better😁
Also, I was disappointed to learn that there wasn't any rum bread pudding made up...
