My recent visit left me quite underwhelmed, and unfortunately, I have to rate it a low 2 out of 5. The experience, considering the steep price of over $160, was disappointing. However, the bartender attending to me was fabulous, which was the only redeeming quality of the night.
I started with the stuffed mushrooms, which arrived within seconds of ordering. The quick service was impressive, but the mushrooms were boiling on the plate, making them impossible to eat immediately. After a few minutes of cooling, they were still too hot and drenched in a cheap-tasting brown gravy. Despite the temperature and gravy, the portion size was generous and the flavor was decent.
Next, the loaded baked potato was a basic, straightforward dish. It’s hard to mess up a baked potato, but I was disappointed by the dirty taste and smell, indicating it hadn't been properly scrubbed before cooking.
The ribeye, the main event, was a mixed experience. Cooked to the right temperature and served on a boiling hot plate, it was tender and juicy. However, the overwhelming taste of tallow overshadowed any seasoning, making the steak greasy and difficult to enjoy beyond a few bites.
The ambiance of the steakhouse felt a bit dated, but I assume this adds to its charm. From my seat, I noticed a good amount of sports memorabilia and pictures showcasing the place over the decades. The wood paneling contributed to a warm, old-world charm that seemed enduring and everlasting, albeit not what I expected based on local reviews.
In summary, while the service from the bartender was excellent and the atmosphere had a nostalgic appeal, the food quality did not justify the high prices. It had potential, but significant improvements in food preparation and quality are needed to make it a worthwhile dining experience for...
Read moreOur waitress was a very sweet girl and although she couldn't tell us what one of the appetizers was, she took excellent care of us. Of everything we ordered, the steak was the only thing worth eating. With that being said, you would think sides would be included when you pay almost $50 for a single cut of meat. We ordered stuffed mushrooms ($12 for SIX) and immediately sent them back they were so bad. We got an order of onion rings and while it was only $5 for a heaping basket, they were limp, unseasoned, and the breading fell off before you could pick them up. The steamed broccoli was more like they microwaved it without adding water as it was tough and dry. It was completely unseasoned, not even a pat of butter. The potatoes and onions were awful and loaded with grease. I ate two bites, my husband ate a single bite and didn't touch them again. The asparagus wasn't terrible but there were only half a dozen pieces and they obviously didn't trim the stalks before cooking them. We both got a $7 "house salad" that should have been priced at $3 so at least we could have paid only a dollar per bite... But at least they gave us a quart of ranch apiece. After paying over $150 for a table of mostly inedible food, we will not be going back. Also, THEY DON'T EVEN SERVE TEA!!! I still can't get over the fact they charge separately for sides when they already charge so much for a single steak. Also, they heat the plates so hot, butter was popping and splattering on me when the waitress sat it down. I had to shield my daughter with my napkin so she didn't get popped with the sizzling butter. My husband had to flip his steak for fear of it burning on one side bc it sounded like we got fajitas. We'll be grilling our own steaks at home...
Read moreThis was our first time eating at Tico’s Steakhouse. It is also my last time eating at Ticos. Me and my wife dined here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We have dined at many nice places like Emerils, Char, Table 100 and Half Shell to name a few.
We ordered the onion rings for an appetizer, a ribeye, scalloped potatoes and shrimp scampi with pasta. We drank a glass of wine and a martini.
Positives: Onion Rings are homemade and very delicious. Drinks are pretty great. Waitress was patient and helpful. Hostess was super polite and very professional!
Negatives:
The steaks are very pricey and not worth what we paid. Be careful when ordering your steak because they are not responsible if you order medium well or well done. My steak did not come out right. Longhorns and Outback are the better choices in this business case.
The shrimp scampi with pasta tasted very awful. It came with 6 shrimp and pasta. The pasta was not seasoned. They did replace it with the beef tenderloin kebabs. Those were tasty.
Menu is á la carte. This is French for you pay for what you order including a potato.
Decor is outdated for my taste. I assumed it was an upscale steakhouse. This atmosphere reminds me of a bar/saloon atmosphere.
I left feeling robbed by someone using a fork and spatula. You do not get what you pay for here. If you want to support your local business then visit here and make a donation, but it is not worth eating at.
Hopefully, they listen to their customers and make some changes. The place has history and...
