Service with a smile and more. True 5 Star Service by Ali the host who made the experience over the top. First, let get the low points out of the way. Please use better dinner napkins it's not a problem that you use paper napkins but, please get better ones they're out there. Tone down the high hat lights and let the beautiful light fixtures shine, they deserve to, and finally, you don't need a tv in the restaurant especially when it's constantly buffering and frozen. Now the accolades, the food is out of this world, we had the hot eggplant puree and pickled sauce with Persian salad to start off and it was amazing. The flavors were so balanced and really shined with freshness and taste. I also had the lintel soup which was by far the best one I have ever had. My wife had the lamb kebob and I had the Bakhtyari kebab ( chicken and beef combo), both of us were amazed by the flavor and texture of the kebobs and how tender the meats were. And then for desert we had the Zard (sweet rice) and Persian ice-cream ( which our host Ali recommended), and we were so glad that he did it brought the entire dinner experience to a great finale. Great food and superb service, we will visit again and again, Ali (who at first, we thought was the owner because he was so personable and efficient) made the dining experience so much better. I had to let him know that how impressed we were with his performance and attention to his customers that talent like him is rare, especially in the restaurant industry these days. Ridgewood should be proud to have this 5...
Read moreMy friend and I stopped by here on a Friday evening after having dinner at one of the other restaurants on the block. The restaurant was mostly empty; only 2 tables were in use, and they were getting ready to leave. We were able to seat ourselves, and we really were craving some tea & sweets. The waiter greeted us after a few minutes, and we asked if they served tea. He responded with yes, as it was not on the menu. We asked for 2 teas and told him that we weren't sure which dessert we would like just yet. That's when everything suddenly changed, his face, attitude, and hospitality. He stared at us and asked us, "You're only here for tea and dessert?" We nodded, yes. And he responded with, "That's not going to work. We're not going to do that." My friend and I were so shocked that he just refused us service at an empty restaurant. He didn't even apologize or offer us tea to-go, but ushered us out. We left so embarrassed and humiliated; this never happened to us before. I love eating out and reviewing the restaurants. But I'll never come back to an establishment that doesn't respect its customers. UPDATE: The owner replied to my review, and I'm 1000% sure this is the restaurant I went to, on 08/23 evening. I can even point out the waiter who refused us service... Check your cameras, and...
Read moreAlthough the food is delicious there are a few things that need addressing. As a local to Ridgewood, I've been there a few times. Sometimes the behavior though has been quite petty and cheesy. On one occasion when calling in for a pick-up of the lunch special at 2:30, I was told that I have to pay the dinner price. Very unpalatable. On another occasion, after having a nice conversation while waiting for a take out order to be prepared and paying with cash, I was actually told while walking out the door to wait a second...I was .10 cents short! My God! Additionally, although the place is not cheap at $20 entrees and up, they serve you your drink in a can! No glass is offered and I get the feeling ice is extra. People should be presented with a civilized way to eat. Another time we asked to bring home what we hadn't finish. We were asked if we wanted extra rice with it too. Needless to say we were charged for it. Every gesture has a cost. If the food wasn't good ... Finally, what's the deal with the bread?? When 2-4 people sit down there should be more bread than one piece of pita! Put some bread in the basket for crying out load and serve drinks with glasses and...
