First, I was given an estimate of 25-35 minutes when I placed the order. At 30 minutes I was in the parking lot of Hot Tamales and had not yet received a text saying it was ready so I walked inside to ask about it, and after nearly 5 minutes of no one addressing me and having to approach the counter myself it was not ready. I went back to my car and waited, then walked back in after 10 minutes. As I was waiting for someone to come to the front to help me, I see a shelf with a sheet of paper with "delivery.com" printed on it and a bag of to-go boxes on it so I figured that was my order. When I got it I left immediately as the rest of my family was already frustrated at the wait and hungry. Also, I normally have great experiences with Hot Tamales so I wasn't so concerned about double-checking the bag.
When I got home I noticed that an entire food item I ordered (3 shredded beef tacos) was missing. Additionally I had ordered, and was charged for, sour cream and guacamole on my fajita burrito and NEITHER were given to me. I called back immediately and said I was driving back (I live 3 miles from this establishment, it is not a long drive at all) and they need to have the rest of my order ready for me and they refused to give it to me.
On top of all of this, another thing that greatly upset me was that: not only did they not have my food ready in the estimated timeline, not only did they refuse to give me the items I PAID FOR, not only was the young man working the check-out booth unsociable and absent from his post for many minutes at a time, but I had also checked the box on my fajita burrito order asking for lettuce and tomato and they did not even put the garnish on there. Free garnish.
I've worked at a restaurant, I know what the order screens look like at all stations of the kitchen, I know that the request for garnish comes up on both sides of the line. I also worked in a restaurant during the lockdowns when we were doing to-go orders only and went through the process of preparing orders for pickup. So tell me why my order left the alley and made it all the way to that shelf with the delivery.com paper if it was not fully prepared and double checked. Whoever they had working to-gos that night, whether it be the Manager in the Window or a host, they should be disciplined for carelessness. I do not care how much my family loved to eat here......
Read moreSo glad I found another greatnew mexicqn breakfast place near me ,finally Wecks has some competition, great above and beyond Servers ,huge portions,You cannot go wrong with the plate I get which is a modified Version of a Staple breakfast dish here recommended to me ,Which is a 2 or 3 egg Huevos Rio Rancho , with fried bread substituted ,in place for the normal tortillas ,best fry bread in town hands downs and best sopapillas,so fluffy and thick and always served fresh and piping hot never over or under done ,they got their recipe down superbly,And the second modification is instead of the normal red or green chile or Xmas Chile served smothered on top ,Try the Green Chile Smothered on top,and it goes well with both red and or green even drizzled in addition to the stew and finally for the 3 rd modification I add a protien ,which in this case was bacon that was nice and thick and seemed prepared fresh to order cooked perfectly, which I crbled and sprinkled on top , That's what is in the pictures in 3 of the photos,The Huevos Rio Rancho is oretty much a new Mexican Huevos rancheros served with both beans and papas and eggs and Chile normally ,no protien but you can upgrade with bacon or sausage or ham or carne adovada or even a Rilleno and other choices .But this is my new Saturday weekly breakfast spot that I get with my family every week ,This place is definitely a place worth the trip for any west side Albuquerque residents looking for a great breakfast or brunch/lunch dinner spot .I am a harsh critic and I have nothing negative to say at all about...
Read moreWe ordered the green chilli enchilada casserole and stuffed sopapilllas with red and green chilie.
I got the calabacitas and potatoes as a side instead of the rice and beans.
The calabacitas and potatoes is a much better option than the rice and beans in my opinion as it's just more flavorful and less bland.
The green Chillie casserole is fantastic.
The stuffed sopapillla with beef and red chilli is probably the best stuffed sopapillla I've had in 15 years. The red chillie sauce is so deep red and has the best deep heat that slowly accumulates in your mouth.
The green Chillie beef sopapillla is just as good. Hatch green Chillie is great on everything.
The mamas green Chillie enchilada casserole was really good as well, and has almost as good of flavor as some old style recipes that take 6 hours to cook. But this one's ready in 20 minutes. So it's a home run.
Definitely will return Everytime I'm in the area.
Keep up the great work!
Edit:
We ordered again Monday night as we only really want good NM food when we come visit. I'm an old NM native who lives in Santa Fe for 25yrs.
The Frito pie was terrible. Just yuck. This should really be a stand out dish. It should be made with an old NM style pork red or green Chillie sauce. Fresh onions, tomatoes, lettuce, and sour cream
What I got was a can of wolf brand chilli on Fritos.
There is no other place that has Frito pie in the world. And to see it so poorly made is an absolute disgrace to NM culture and cuisine.
See...
