Over the years, it has become increasingly clear that both large and small companies especially in the fast food industry have seen a significant decline in professionalism, accountability, and overall workplace standards. This is particularly noticeable at McDonald’s locations, including the one here in Riverside, but it seems to be a widespread issue across the board.
Uniforms, once a basic expectation in fast food, are now almost nonexistent. Employees, including management, often wear random clothes none of which resemble a standard or cohesive uniform. This lack of consistency not only affects the brand image but also signals a broader problem: a diminishing sense of pride and responsibility in the workplace.
Customer service has also deteriorated significantly. Basic courtesy like a warm greeting, a polite tone, or even a simple smile is rare. The environment in many of these restaurants feels negative and unwelcoming. While the fast-paced nature of the industry is understood, that should never excuse poor attitudes or unprofessional behavior. Customers shouldn’t have to bear the brunt of employee frustration it’s not part of the job, and it certainly isn’t acceptable.
What’s missing today is a sense of dignity and ownership in the workplace. There’s little to no accountability, and the emphasis on proper training and presentation has been lost. Companies should reinstate clear expectations: standardized uniforms, consistent training whether hands-on or through instructional videos and a culture of respect and responsibility.
Most importantly, customer service needs a reset. Simple acts of kindness, empathy, and professionalism can have a powerful impact. These are the traits that build customer loyalty not just convenience or brand recognition.
It’s disappointing to see such a dramatic shift in the fast food industry, and McDonald’s, once a leader in this space, is no exception. It’s time to bring back the basics: professionalism, accountability, and...
Read more2nd and last time I will ever come here. 1st time i assumed maybe its a bad day for the employee helping me. This is my 2nd time going and girl they had at the drive through window had a attitude after her being on her cell phone texting. So I got upset, opened the window and told them i want to speak to the manager. Manager Jessica, told me to wait in parking lot food was almost done, she would take it to me. Waited 10 min, nothing until I went inside told the manager about her employee. 2 more managers stepped in. 1 manager, was kind and was willing to help me including to tell me they will speak to the employee, the 2nd manager tht stepped over her, made her walk away while helping me and began giving me attitude and giving excuses saying the young lady at the window was a minor. I got upset, i admit i rased my voice and told her rather employee is a minor should keep her personal life personal, and keep work to work. Another male employee began yelling at me to shut up and not speak to her like that. He LITERALLY stepped to me like if he was going to hit me, a male customer stepped in. After completely telling her she definitely needed to correct her employees she then with attitude pushed the food toward me saying my order was complete, it was not. The manager tht she stepped over thwn came back and Kindly asked me and KINDLY completed my order. I will be there Monday to speak to Blanca, whom they said is the manager above everyone and I have already spoke to corporate. This isnt how employees should treat customers. Especially a male trying to hit a...
Read moreFood was delicious and my double cheese burger (plain) was hot cheese was melted and bread was soft and toasted. My French fries weren't too salty and were crisp and hot. Drive thru sometimes takes a little while but that's understandable with how many people go to Mc Donalds and some people order for like a family of 10. I've heard people order 10 Mc Chickens, 80 Mc Nuggets and 10 Mc Doubles +whatever drinks for the people. And when they were asked to pull up to the 3rd window because the order would take a min they refuse and sit at the 2nd windows holding up the drive thru. Also if people did t get so particular customizing the fast food Mc Donalds offers which makes it not fast food anymore it becomes a friggin sit down restaurant. I wish others on here complaining about wait times and trying to say food wasn't fresh well when you can't order it as it is on the menu it slows it all down. And to anyone trying to say Jack N the Box doesn't take as long and you customize your food there or any other fast food place remember this they don't do near the volume that Mc Donalds does so the handful of cars in there drive thru is just a drop in the bucket compared to what goes through Mc Donalds. And if it's so bad then why keep going. You could cook the food for cheaper and apparently better if you did it yourself. This location is one of the best Mc Donalds I've been to and would recommend it to anyone for good fast food...
