First off all i need to say this was the first time ordering from here. When i called they said it would be done right away because they were empty. It kind of made me worry a little because it was dinner time. I was actually glad that i ordered take out i stead of eating in for a couple reasons.
The location is right on a very busy highway but the building itself in the evening is badly lit. Hard to see and driveway a bit eary. Walked in and the place seemed a bit cramp and somewhat unorganized. I enjoy eating in small places like this but the ambience has to reflect the size and location. As soon as i entered the small group of people that were there, maybe 7 were having a conversation that was competing with the very loud music. One thing that I personally hate in any restaurant is the need to have loud music that overpowers what can be a dinner conversation. There is just no need for that, that for me made this place i would never eat in. The one person i saw working was friendly and as i walked in took care of me. Speaking over the loud music and conversations going on we understood each-other and that i was picking up food. Before i get to the food i do need to bring up that i found their pricing a bit high compared to other locations in the area that sell same food. My order was a bowl of chicken soup. Price $16.50 plus 30cent charge for credit card use.
I think $16.80 for a bowl of chicken soup is a bit high. Other local areas have huge soup bowls of Albondigas, pozole, cocido and chicken soups at the $11 -&12 range. Seafood restaurants nearby have seafood stew with shrimp for $15-18 range. Not sure how chicken soup can be almost $17.
As for the taste and quality of the soup, i have to agree with other reviews that the food is good. The soup came cooked with potato i believe chayote and carrots. The flavor was there and very tasty. It came with a bit of fried rise to add to soup and a nice tomato not very spicy sauce and chips to have on the side. Similar servings as other places.
Overall the soup was delicious and would most likely go back, if their food pricing was more equivalent to other local areas i would most likely make it my new place to go and get take out. Sadly i do not see myself dining there because of the chaotic ambience of loud music. If something was done about that then my...
Read moreI heart tacos! I heart tacos from here! Love them - want to marry them!
Been here a couple times and have enjoyed everything I've devoured... er tasted. The salsas have been fresh and they always provide me with plenty and such a variety! Not one... not two... but three different salsas for my tacos. And no no, as if that weren't enough, a fourth/different salsa for my chips! Say what?? heavenly sound - ahhhh
They always provide goodies on the side! Grilled onions & chiles, limes/lemons, and radishes! I NEVER have to ask... They magically appear on the puh-late! Love that!!
Tacos are basic with onion & cilantro. I've mainly tasted the carne asada and carnitas. Meat has a good flavor, generous portions for $1, and not lots of nerve/blubber. Carnitas weren't greasy or fatty... My taco was pure meat and oh so yummy. Honestly, I do slightly prefer the carne asada @ Potrillos up the street but the carnitas here are way better! Coming from a person that really doesn't eat much pork.
I've also had the fish and shrimp tacos here! They're loaded!! I got full off of one! Topped with cabbage, tomato, cucumber... YUMMY! Not greasy and the batter is thin & more like tempura batter! Only bad thing was they didn't clean the shrimp completely.
The interior is a bit dark and always a tad too crowded and warm for me (yeah, warm - like body heat warm from so many people in a small area). Lol Don't think I'd dine-in for lunch. But the gal who always helps me at the register is so friendly & such a hard worker - too bad I don't know her name so I could mention it here!
Be patient, first time I placed a phone order we had to call about 5 times before we got through (almost gave up but glad we didn't). The subsequent times - no problem! They do charge $1.00 not the advertised $.99 so relax and bring your pennies. ;P Also, they charge a $.50 fee for card transactions - boo! Hmm not sure if that's actually legal but ummm if you want to avoid it - load up on...
Read moreThis review is long overdue. I have been coming for years and the food never disappoints. Everything is made to order. My favorite go to plates are the Chilaquiles Michoacanos with Chicken Instead Add Avocado and no Egg. In addition to the camarones Chipotle! Both plates are to die for ! Me and my family love coming here to just gather and eat together when we get the chance. It’s also a great place to come if you want to hang with friends and have some Mariscos and alcoholic drinks. There micheladas are bomb Af ! They have a wide variety of food choices from breakfast, lunch, dinner and seafood. They are a bit on the pricier side but it’s all worth it. You can taste it by the quality of their food. The weekends are always busy so it might be hard to find parking since there parking lot is not that big. Customer service is always on point there so tentative even where there busy but they let you know I’ll be right with you. My favorite waitress is Diana she is the best and makes the best michelada she has that magical touch ! They also offer fresh squeezed orange juice. Ambience is...
