Chubbys Cafe Riverton — Restaurant in Riverton

Um… wow. YUM.

I grew up in Utah with various Chubby’s restaurants always just down the road from me. I had always heard hype about them, but had never tried it until today, and I got to say it totally lives up to that hype. I tried the beer cheese burger (something like that) and I can’t lie this is one of the tastiest burgers I have had in quite a long time. The beer cheese is truly perfect. Just the rich flavor you’d expect from a beer cheese/cheese sauce, without being overwhelming or too heavy. There is also some other sour ish sauce that is likely a kind of spicy mustard that I must have missed when reading the ingredients list when I ordered. But it was a pleasant surprise of extra flavor. It’s on a pretzel bun because of course with the beer cheese and you better believe the pretzel bun is quality too. The patty was cooked perfectly, with the slightest sear which most places don’t even bother with. (I’m a sucker for a patty cooked like this.)

I got this delicious burger in a combo with the beer battered fries, just to stay on brand with the beer thing :) and just like the burger, they were perfect. Not overly salted, not too battered, just delicious. Like wow I’m actually really surprised even though this place was already hyped up. Well freaking done guys.

Also the service was all smiles and they were all very helpful. Didn’t wait long for my food at all and the decor is really cool as it is one of those buildings that almost seems to be bigger on the inside.

I’m thoroughly impressed with Chubbys. Thank you guys for the soul food. I got this food for my lunch break and the rest of my workday has been better simply because that meal was so satisfying. Sometimes food can really literally boost your whole mood but it didn’t happen often. But it did with my lunch today at Chubbys....

UPDATE to my review: We went to Chubby’s Neighborhood Cafe in Riverton Sat. 12/09 just had to add pics of our meal. Same great service, friendly staff, and yummy dinner…… My husband and I find Chubby’s a great place to stop for a casual, quiet, and tasty meal. I super enjoyed our last 2 visits to Chubby’s Cafe Riverton, the food is so yummy. On Saturday Nov. 25th we had several family members still in town after Thanksgiving, we wanted to go out to eat as a group. We gave Chubbys in the morning, explained our need for space for approximately 25 of us, they immediately offered to reserve their banquet area for our large group. We were all looking forward to a great burger, and Chubbys did not disappoint. The service was excellent, the whole group was very happy with their food. I am trying to eat less carbs and it was so eat at Chubbys, I ordered a jalapeno ranch burger with no bun and a side salad, it was so yummy. The salad was just the right size, and super fresh. Fast forward to this weekend, my husband and I took our granddaughter to eat at Chubbys, same great experience. This time I remembered to take photos which I will include. One of our families favorite things are the Beer Battered Fries, so good, with great fry sauce. If you have never tried them, it is a must. Another stand out item is their coleslaw, amazing dressing. My granddaughter had the BBQ Burger. She asked for it minus the pickles and cheese, but she absolutely loves that it’s a burger with the BBQ sauce and coleslaw. Chubby's is an excellent burger joint and has a great Southern rustic atmosphere. From scones, hushpuppies, and Po Boys, it has that southern flair, but specializes with a classic fresh burger as well. It gets a good 4.5/5.

To start, the burgers are very good and fresh. Great sear on the patty, melted cheese, bacon crispy, and a good bun. The bun could use more toasting as the burgers are on the greasy side. It gets just slightly soggy a little quickly. The real only complaint I have is the burger patty itself, as fresh as it is, it needs that more seasoning to bring it fully out. Still would absolutely choose this over a Five Guys, and for this price, easy.

Don't bother with normal fries, their Beer Battered are awesome. Good crunch, crispy, and good Fry sauces. Sauce on the tangy side of you like that, and they have a great smokey bbq fry sauce that's even better.

Sides are great, scones are very good, they do a butter honey mix that I wish was separated, as the mix gets a little weirdly textured and flavor isn't as pronounced. That's a change I would make personally, but the scone itself is awesome!

To wrap up, Prices I think are very fair, good combos available, and a great selection of items. It keeps me coming back once a quarter, and there's no place like it to get good burgers, scones, and...
