This place has gone down hill dramatically!!! I have never seen a business so weight and portion control in my life. Spent 40 bucks for food and it's just filler. I ordered a raspberry chicken burrito got a rather large scoop of rice and beans that are very watery and I swear that the guy counted the pieces of chicken going in the burrito. I was embarrassed. I only weigh 180 and don't think I need to Jenny Craig or diet, but wow. For the rest of my family we got two pork quesdillas with .02oz of meat and the misses got two tacos with about the same meat portion as the quesdillas. It says something about business if your scraping the scraps to your customers and taking shortcuts. I dont feel good, I feel cheated and scammed like buying consessions at a movie theater, paying 7 bucks for a box of dots when you can buy them at Walmart for .99 cents. There's better Mexican food places to go eat at like Cafe Rio or ranchorritos betos where they don't scam/skimp you on portions. The Draper store knows how to treat customers and their food and its only 5 mins away from this location take your money there it'll be better. The pictures are of the quesdillas where you can take 1.5 bites and all the meat is gone I tried to get a pic of the misses tacos but she was hangry and eating them before I could. The staff i think his name was Enrique he's the checks and balances guy who makes sure you don't get .001oz over the alloted amount for your food. It's way over priced for what you get and the quality of food. Lemonade machines were empty and no cutlery except spoons. Very very dissatisfied with how they run things now at this location

I'm giving some stars for the flavor of the food - the rice and meat had excellent flavor. The staff themselves were friendly and seemed to work well together. However, I'm pretty disappointed in everything else and the cost of over $18 did not match up to the value of what I should have gotten. I ordered inside and was dine-in. First off, the gentleman who put in my refried beans literally poured it over the side of the tin foil, causing me to not only lose food that I paid for, but made it difficult for me to unwrap the quesadilla on their table without making a nasty mess. Second, the refined beans were watery. It looked like slop you'd give a piglet on a farm. Third, my quesadilla was ordered with shredded beef, which was not distributed nearly evenly nor did it have enough beef inside of the entree and to make matters worse, it wasn't cut all the way through or evenly. It looked like a small child went at it with child safety scissors. The rice portion is hard to tell, but it was small. The pictures taken of the food was before even a single bite was taken, but I was so taken back by the small portion of rice that I compared it to a spoon for reference. The floors in the entire restaurant and the bathrooms were in desperate need of a sweep, and the bathrooms had not been checked in on or taken care of in some time. I walked into the bathrooms completely a mess, with toilet paper on the floor which had feces all over it. I don't feel like this restaurant gives you the quality, presentation or cleanliness to warrant that much money.

Went for lunch today and got a chicken burrito. I always get extra lettuce and extra pico. Today, the total seemed higher than normal so I asked at the window and found out that they charged me $1 for the extra lettuce and $.60 for the extra pico. Look, I know the status of the economy and I understand that prices need to increase (which they have for all of the menu items) but that is crazy to me that they would charge $1 for lettuce. I included a picture so you can see that the “extra” lettuce was like 3 bites of lettuce. I get it if you’re adding extra protein, but you can’t tell me I’m eating into anyone’s margins with a little extra lettuce. It’s usually a toss up for me between Cafe Rio and Costa Vida but with this, I don’t think I’ll be going back to Costa Vida again. It might just be this Costa Vida in Riverton that is overcharging because earlier this month, I went to the Costa Vida in Kaysville and got the chicken burrito (with extra lettuce and pico) AND a drink and my total was $12.97 My total today at Riverton with no drink and being charged for the extra lettuce and pico came to $13.28

Costa Vida why do you break my heart. They’d been open for over an hour and we tried to get in but couldn’t get the door open. We were peering through the window, they saw us, and didn’t say or do anything. We were about to leave but then saw an employee walking in and she was able to get us in.

We walked in and they didn’t even look at us. We stood in line for several minutes (the only customers in the store) and nobody once looked at us or spoke to us. We tried to get their attention and they didn’t say anything back. Maybe they just didn’t hear us but it was still kind of obnoxious.

I love costa. I worked at one for two years. Costas food is always way better than cafe rios. But the costa vida service is never that good. I go to cafe Rio and don’t like the food nearly as much, but the vibe is great. People say hi when you walk in, they make small talk, and they all look like they wanna be there. Everyone working at costa Vida looks severely depressed.

I will say this location did well with the portion sizes. Costa is usually very stingy with their food. They gave us what we paid for.

Solutions:

  1. unlock the door when you’re open (seems weird that it’s even an issue)
  2. pay your employees more than 9 bucks an hour. That’s what it was when I was there, and according to google, it’s still that. There’s a reason chick fil a and in n out are known for their service, because they pay well. Costa Vida has the money to start people at least 14 or 15. You start paying employees what they’re worth, you’ll attract better employees. 9 bucks an hour is so ridiculously low it doesn’t surprise me how depressed all the employees were.

When I worked there I knew I was getting ripped off but went with it because I loved the free food.

In summary, you have great food. Just not great service. Costa could really become something great with the...

Terrible experience. Restaurant was packed and moving slower than the DMV. And it was 83 degrees. 2 of the 6 employees in sight not helping but sitting around

I used a coupon to get one meal free with purchase of one entrée and two drinks. So I get the daily special which includes a drink and another meal and drink. 2 meals. 2 drinks. The cashier charged me for 3 drinks. When I explained I only needed to purchase 1 additional drink because my daily special meal included 1 of the 2 drinks she just didn’t understand. She told me I needed to purchase 2 drinks by themselves to make the coupon work. My reply was “Did I not purchase two drinks?” “Well, yeah, but you still have to purchase 2 separate. So I asked to speak to the manager (Now I’m holding up the already long line of people roasting of heat). The manager didn’t get it either. He said the same thing. “Sorry, you have to purchase two drinks to get the coupon.” “How many drinks have I purchased? 2? Or 3?” “Well, 3 with the special.” “So I have to purchase 3 drinks? Because the coupon says 2...” “Well, I guess, yeah in this case” You (reading this post) get it. I get it. Everyone gets it but the ones that need to get it. Instead of doing what was right he just brushed me off. In lieu of losing my cool and making a scene I just took my 3 drinks and left. My $2 wasn’t worth it. But it is worth a terrible review. I guess that’s the cost of poor customer service skills Costa Vida. Your call.

Tried to give them a chance. I typically favor the other Mexican-Style restaurant popular around here and now I know why they are more popular and why I don’t come here.

Terrible experience. Don’t waste your time. Go somewhere else where common sense and basic mathematics and customer service...

I and my family have been coming to the riverton location since before they relocated to the corner of 3627 w 13400s and have never ever had bad service But today we had HORRIBLE service by the staff and general manager kyson. My wife came to the riverton location and ordered a sweat pork nacho with just shredded cheese and no queso. Well not only did they put the queso on the nacho (queso which makes her sick due to the ingredients that its is made from) when her father picked the order up and noticed it and pointed the issue out to the staff they told him we're not re making that. So understandably my wife called in to there call center to make a complaint. The People from their call center were nice and told her we will send an email to the riverton location for them to remake the order and we apologize for the inconvenience. So we arrive back at the riverton location and explain the issue prior to arriving and they bring out their GM kyson who flat out told my wife in front of everyone in line waiting to order"I'm not going to remake your meal despite the email that was sent, I've been here all day and I know that my crew would never do something like that we always put the queso on the side" and sent her away embarrassed. I find it very difficult to believe that this GM can keep eyes on every order that is made and can say for certain that it was not done. This GM needs to learn more in the ways of customer service. We PAID to have a meal made in a specific manner and didnt get what was paid for. I personally feel a bit robbed out of money since the meal went to waste I nor my family will never come back to this location. Today was...
