I had never been to Mission BBQ before, but always wanted to go as I have heard good things about them. So I stopped by last weekend and when I walked in it was around 1pm on a Saturday. The line was all the way to the door. However I made it to the cashier to give my order in less than 2 minutes! She was really pleasant and super friendly! Then I received my food within 1 minute and it was hot and fresh! I ordered the chicken sandwich and fries combo. The guy that gave me my order asked if I had ever been there before and I said I had not and he went on about great details about their food and it sounded so yummy! So I sat down to try my food and I loved that they had all kinds of different sauces right in the table to try. So I tried the Memphis Belle sauce on my sandwich, I loved it so much I used it on my fries also! I was almost done eating while enjoying the awesome music they have playing. Then there was a worker walking around offering a sample of their fresh brownies, he came to my table and asked if I wanted one and of course I did and it was really really good!! Then a few minutes later the manager came over to my table and asked if he could get me anything and if I had been there before, I told him I had not. He asked me if he could ask me why I chose to go there today. So I told him I always wanted to try it and my car was getting worked on nearby. He went on to tell me how they take pride in making sure their customers are satisfied. His name was Trevor, and I could definitely tell he was passionate about what he did. He really cared about the customer experience. That is so rare now and days and it was really nice to see such a dedicated manager. He asked me if there was anything on the menu that I was interested in trying. Of course I was super full after eating most of my huge sandwich and fries. I asked him what he recommended and he then asked me if there is anything I didnt like, I named three of the things he said that I didn't care for In general, I don't like baked beans or Cole slaw and I forgot the third. He said how about I bring you some Mac and cheese and our Carmel Apple Cobbler. I said yes for sure that sounds amazing!! He brought them back and with a to go lid and a bag since I couldn't possibly eat anymore at that time. I was so impressed with the care and service while I was there it was amazing. Trevor truly deserves to be recognized that he is one of the best managers Ive ever come across at a restaurant, well actually I am confident in saying he IS THE BEST manager Ive come across in the restaurant business. I work in customer service and truly appreciate when I see someone that knows the value of treating your customers right. Kudos to Trevor!!!!

A new BBQ invasion force has landed in Robinson. Mission BBQ has made the former Bob Evans ground zero of this landing force. And with an arsenal consists of ribs, brisket, pulled pork & chicken and turkey they are bringing the bbq war to Pittsburgh. The moment you open the door there is no secret about what this place is all about, as the scent of BBQ immediately invades your senses. Unlike some places when you walk in and smell undertones of what they make, it is clear and distinct what their battle plan is and that is delicious food. Another thing to possibly expect when you walk in is a line. I arrived at just before noon on a Sunday and the line was almost to the door. When I saw the line I scouted for a table and made claim to it. From my vantage point, I was able to see how quick and efficient the front counter staff operate to diminish that line. The only problem is once that first wave of customers is served another line forms almost instantly, it seemed as though they were under a constant barrage of customers. Once the order was placed it only seemed like 5 minutes before they were calling our name to pick up our order. I opted for the pulled chicken XXL meal (that value meal includes a drink and 2 sides.) In my own opinion, there is only one way to describe the pulled chicken and is succulent. If I was anywhere else and I had received that quality of a chicken dish I would have been perfectly happy. But when you add their sides (coleslaw and baked beans for me) only adds to the dining experience. Everything I had was absolutely fantastic. Let this serve as a warning to Smokey Bones, you are no longer the only bbq place in Robinson, Mission BBQ has you in their sights and their forces are coming after you.

What’s for dinner? 🍽 (Friday: March 19, 2021) Jalapeño sausage, baby back rib, brisket, mac & cheese and green beans from Mission BBQ! Yum! The jalapeño sausages are good. However, I do feel that I need to heat it up a little bit more when I get home to get to the ‘done-ness’ that I’m looking for! The Baby back rib was tender, meaty & tasty. The brisket was dry & not so great. I ordered the moist brisket but I believe that I wasn’t given it. Actually, they almost missed giving it to my entirely. They always confirm what you ordered by opening the boxes of food before they bag it. She showed it really fast but I noticed something was wrong & asked her to open it again. She did & that’s when it was missing. Maybe that’s why they gave me the wrong brisket. 🤷🏽‍♀️ The mac & cheese is pretty good, surprisingly. Sometimes, when they’re really busy, they try to hurry up and heat up some mac & cheese on a pan; which really takes away from the consistency & taste. But, they didn’t do that this time. The green beans has bacon in it. I’m the type that picks around the fatty bacon pieces. It’s just nit my thing. The green beans aren’t soul food green beans & just offer another option of a side... nothing to write home about. Bon appétit 😋

I had an epiphany today. I do enjoy this establishment very much, from their insanely good BBQ, to the friendly smiling staff, to the speed and efficiency that not even the most sqared away chow line could hope to achieve... but today, as I shoveled a spoonful of mac and cheese, baked beans and cornbread into my yap, and then gnawed off a bite of my baby-back-ribs, I said to myself "Yeah....This is F--king America, baby"....

...and right there it hit me,... if in all our travels, all our time spent abroad, if anyone ever asked me "what is American food like?" or "what do real Americans eat?" I would reply to them "THIS RIGHT HERE!!" A sloppily piled plate with pieces of expertly smoked meats and comfort food staples, food too delicious to eat quickly, food you must SAVOR every bite, and food that makes you close your eyes as if it was the best thing you ever tasted... then you wash it down with southern sweet tea that would make any South Carolina Church summer picnic proud. Mission BBQ gives you that. It punches you right in the tongue with a glorious fist of American flavor.... (( a bald eagle screeches in the distance as the Star Spangled Banner softly plays.... overhead Old Glory waves proudly against the blue sky.)) Everything they do is delicious. The expertly smoked meats, the piquant flavors of each regional sauce, vinegar, smoke, brown sugar, mustard, tomato, molasses... and the staple foods, made from recipes our mother's and their mother's before them guarded like national top-secret intel...

There are lots of places that serve "decent food" and you can go spend your money and have a decent meal. But if you want to spoil yourself, if you want to truly taste the flavors of AMERICA, and savor that summer picnic from your youth, and experience flavors that have beckoned generations to family BBQ's since our boys came home from WW1, all the while rolling your eyes into your head with sheer pleasure.... well, Mission BBQ is your destination. Your cardiologist might be pissed, but whatever, screw that guy... THIS IS AMERICA, DAMNIT! Mission BBQ, come taste America baby. So...

We used Mission BBQ as our caterer for our wedding on October 8th 2022. Throughout the 2 year process of planning Annie and her team were very responsive and helped out with anything we needed! There were a few things the day of that could have went better but overall we had a good experience with Mission BBQ. The staff was late arriving to the venue on the day of the wedding which led to the bar not being open on time(only 15 minutes late). We paid for the coffee station only to find out the day of that it was a Keurig machine. We could have done this ourselves for way cheaper. The single serve machine led to people not being able to use it since it took so long to get a cup. We were told they would be serving the cake and plating cookies before they left and that didn't happen. Our groomsmen ended up taking out the overflowing trash because the staff did not do it like they said they would. We aren't sure if we misunderstood or if they were short two workers but we were under the impression there would be 5 staff plus the two bartenders. There were 5 including the two bartenders. The last thing and probably most disappointing because of how good the food was, we were not made aware of where the leftover food was taken too. It ended up getting put on a patio outside but it was dark and cold and nobody found it till the next day. Overall I would recommend mission BBQ catering to anyone looking at using them for their wedding day! The food was amazing and we keep getting compliments that it was the best wedding food they have ever had. None of these things made a huge deal in the overall picture but somethings that could have just gone a little better. I did reach out via email to go over some of these things after the fact but did not...
