Terrible checkout process - frustrating and embarassing. When I checked out, I gave my Staples Rewards number (which I don't ever recall getting a reward for using) and the cashier, a friendly young man named Joe, told me that if I signed up for the app, that I could save $25 off my purchase of $75 or more (ended up being $90+). As there was no one behind me in line, I downloaded the app and tried to sign in with the email that I receive Staples emails in and it said I did not have an account. I spent literally 10 minutes trying to sign in, reset passwords, and finally set up a new account under the email that you send promo stuff to. Meanwhile, another shopper lined up behind me and Joe courteously asked if I minded him checking out the other shopper at another register. After more frustration with the app and being unable to link my current account which said there were $8 in rewards, more shoppers started lining up behind me, making me anxious and the manager came over to help check out shoppers. I finally gave up and told Joe I would just skip the $25 offer because the frustration and anxiety were not worth it. He could not have been nicer. The manager did not get involved even after I stated that the app never worked for me, the rewards program seems bogus, and while a nice idea, the rewards and app are poorly executed. I feel that Joe did a wonderful job but that he does not have the tools to complete what you are asking of him. Because of experiences like this, I avoid Staples and shop Amazon. Read moreI wa a greeted when I walked in which was nice, and asked several times if I needed help. Finally I asked the manager for a Fitbit I was looking for. He told me he didn't have it in store and that he could order it for me. He then took me up to their computer and searched Fitbit and couldn't find one that fit my needs (records biking) then typed in Microsoft band and nothing came up. So he just paused and stares at the blank screen. Then looked at me and said that he didn't have it at all. He clearly had no idea which Fitbit could record what I was looking for. Because if he did then he would have saw that their website does carry it. After being told that they did not carry it. Also when I declined to sign up for a rewards card, it seemed as though the cashier's mood completely changed, she no longer smiled and just kinda seemed like she didn't care after that. And I also found it rather odd that an employee had food delivered to the store and that the manager had to wait to assist me until he called the employee up to pay he delivery guy. Like isn't that what lunch breaks are for? To go get food? Not have it delivered in front of a bunch of customers. Anyway, I went to Best Buy where the gentleman who assisted me knew exactly what I needed and showed me a variety of options he had in store for me to buy. Best Buy or Office Max from now on for me! Read moreI am writing to endorse the fine job one of your associate, Ellen (forgotten her last name) did for me on June 13th 2020 at the Robinson branch. I was at the store to see how best I can have a document and photo put together on a large print so I can put in a frame. Being an African with a thick accent, I often have little challenges speaking the “American English” in my numerous engagements….lol. However, Ellen took her time to listen to me and made sure she understood whatever I was trying to say. She in turn did same, took her time to explain everything to me and worked on my documents and picture nicely. The end result was just beautiful. Needless to say, she did a fantastic job on my document, simply everything. I was really impressed and happy with the outcome and I told her she just made my day. Having an associate or a personnel going the extra mile to put smiles on people’s faces during these challenging times we find ourselves in is such a beautiful thing, and that is what Ellen did to me, something I also try to do in my line of duty.
