There were many people working there and I came in waiting to be seated and one of the hosts asked me if I was there for pick up and I said no table for 1. He then walked away and another person came back a few minutes later and said wait a minute. They sat me at a dirty table and the man put a napkin on the table and a few minutes later came back and just dropped some utensils across from me. There were several other open, clean tables with utensils on them. He then says let me get you a menu, he came back a few minutes later. I sat at the table for over 10 min, several waiters( looks like a family run restaurant) were chatting with the patrons, about 3 of them passed by and said I’ll be right there and would just sit around looking at the iPad for seating. Finally someone came and asked for my order, they did not ask if I wanted to drink anything and my food came about another 15 min later and I asked can I get a bottle of water? They said yes and dropped off a bottle of warm water, no cup with ice and just left. Never came back to ask if everything was okay. I asked for a lamb tiki masala 3 star spicy. The meat was hard, it was not spicy the garlic naan was good. About 20 min later I asked for my check, the lady then asked, ( she was nicer than the guy) do you need a box? I responded no and she said you pay at the counter, she said today is a soft launch so you get a discount and asked me to leave her a Google review. Had she been the one to serve me, I would have given them a 4 star. But the short arrogant guy ( seemed like the owner ) who made sure to only greet the Indian patrons and ignored the non Indian patrons or was a bit abrasive to them (including myself) lacks etiquette. The place felt and looked like an informal dinner/ barbecue party at a...
Read moreToday my father and I tried Red Chilly's for lunch and had a great experience.
We entered at about 1:30pm to the smell of wonderful Indian spices. The interior looks to have been somewhat recently updated with modern fixtures. The dining room and men's restroom were very clean. The three large flat screen TVs playing Indian music videos were a pleasant backdrop with the the music low enough for us to converse freely. The overall atmosphere and booth we sat at were comfortable.
We ordered mixed vegetable pakoras, a masala dosa, and malai kofta to share. Everything tasted very fresh. I was impressed by the pakoras as their batter seemed to have been made from scratch and just fried. The vegetables were fried individually as opposed to clumped into fritters like is standard at most Indian restaurants. They were light and crunchy with a minimal amount of oil. The dosa was a bit scant on the filling, but its taste and the crispness of the crepe more than made up for that. It included ramekins of two chutneys (coconut and ???) , as well as a delicious sambar. The kofta were on the small side but well formed--neither overly fried or mushy. The large amount of kofta gravy was wonderfully rich and creamy. We didn't specify how spicy we wanted any dish and they did not ask, but nothing was hotter than a three out of a five scale with one of the chutneys being the spiciest.
All in all, it was a great time between the food and the ambience. The prices were also reasonable. I'd highly recommend this to anyone seeking excellent North or South Indian cuisine. There were an incredible number of options for vegetarians and I'm excited to go back to try them all. We've found our new favorite Indian restaurant in the...
Read moreI went there with 2 others and ordered one curry 2 naan and one veg biryani. First the curry naan and rice came, which were bland and off colored for being a tomato based curry. Then were were done eating and asked what happened with the biryani since it should’ve been here well before now. The restaurant was not even full or busy. The waiter had told us it’s coming without giving us any closure or even telling us straight faced. He just kind of turned his head said it’s coming and walked away…. Then we waited another 10 minutes AFTER we were done with our food and asked again and I kid you not, the waiter told us “it’s coming” and walked away without even approaching us. In this time frame I saw 3 other plates of biryanis going out to other tables. After this we waited for 5 MORE MINUTES and then we finally asked for the check since we were not going to wait 45 minutes for a bowl of biryani. Then the waiter again told us word for word “it’s coming” and just left and refused to give us our check. 2 minutes after this, the biryani came. It was good but the staff is just ignorant, not trained, and they do not care about your service/experience. DO NOT GO THERE, they will definitely waste your time and not even have the audacity to tell you when it will come or respectfully communicate with you. This is by far the worst Indian restaurant experience I have had. All in all it took the biryani 45 minutes to come to us in the time frame we saw 3 orders of...
