This Mexican restaurant was above and beyond excellent- my only sadness is that I live nowhere near it! It was on a road trip back home and several hours from me.
But enough of the pointless details! Here's the major highlights:
The food was VERY well made.
The cheese shreds showed it wasn't pre-packaged shredded cheese, but cheese that was grated there. (Yeah, not a biggie, but still a nice thing to know in the world of pre-packaged everything including restaurants these days.) The cheese gave that beautiful stretch and even tried stretching outside of my taco- which trust me, is a GOOD problem to have as it means that cheese is great! I got the #4: 2 cheese enchiladas, rice, beans, taco and tortillas.
The rice and beans has so much flavor! I feel like Mexican (also known as Spanish rice) rice really gives away how good a Mexican restaurant is. Some have barely any color and with that lack of color (aka tomato) the flavor goes with it. This was some nice, colorful rice! The beans as well, I'm pretty positive lard is likely used in it which makes those beans perfect.
The ground beef of the taco as well had flavor- rather than just adding herbs and spices on top of the beef, it certainly seems like it was properly mixed in.
The service was good! Our waitress was very kind and friendly to us. She made sure we didn't need refills and was all smiles!
The location itself was SUPER clean. Both the restaurant dining area and even the restroom was spotless. It was like someone's magical abuelita came in with Comet and Fabuloso! I wish more restaurants really went the extra mile like that.
The wait for the food was incredibly short. It looked about medium-level busy.
The seating options were nice- regular tables, booths and a section for larger groups of people.
All in all, I found this place to be 15 out of 10, haha. I'd make it one of my top restaurants for Mexican food if only it were closer to me. But that's certainly not it's fault! If you're considering this place- go already! I would've taken a picture, but I jumped into eating it too fast as it...
Read moreThis was my first visit. I ordered the No. 37, "Chicken Poblano". The food arrived quickly and was properly cooked. (I've been to restaurants that don't cook the chicken to the correct temperature) The meal was very tasty. The chicken wasn't dry, the poblanos were fresh and the rice wasn't crunchy. The avacado slices were perfect! I wasn't a fan of the spicy salad, but that's only because I personally didn't enjoy it. The salad appeared to be well made. The meal overall was excellent. I would definitely revisit this location and try another dish. The server was very friendly and attentive. She was very busy with a lot of tables and she made sure to visit me nonetheless. I was happy to tip her. The atmosphere is typical of most any Mexican restaurant. There is plenty of seating. The floors looked clean. The tables were clean. The busser stayed on top of keeping the tables cleaned and ready. I did not visit the restroom, so no observations there. Overall, I would recommend...
Read moreUsually customer service is on point, but not today. The manager, Pedro, stated that it was "common sense" that you'll be charged for any thing extra that you ask for. For instance, if you ask for extra chips or limes ... it's extra! I get it! What I do not get is charging you extra for every little thing, but isn't mentioned in the menu. According to Pedro, everyone charges extra for limes, chips, etc because it's just common sense. My question is - Are your items weighed each time to ensure each "extra" is the same as the first because you are paying for it? Lastly, the waiter will keep bringing you them extra limes just because it's common sense that you will charged! I understand paying for extras is a common thing, but you should not be charged for items not on the menu like some darn limes, Pedro! Also, work on that watery cheese dip and tough...
