Don Armando's Mexican Cuisine — Restaurant in Rochester Hills

I stumbled upon this place from seeing the reviews so I checked it out here’s the scoop. You are greeted upon door entry that’s a plus nowdays a nice enthusiastic young guy greets then starts to suggests what he recommends. This was my first time tasting horchata I was pleasantly surprised I have nothing else to compare it to lol but it’s was a 10/10 none this less. I ordered 1 Nachos Libre with steak 1 birria taco 1 steak taco and tres leches cake. I sat down waited and the who I presume to be the owner came by and asking me had I ordered already and I told him yes. Nice guy.. he tapped my shoulder and told me wait a min went and got me Nacho chips and queso as well as another family just for waiting for my carry out order! This type of Resturant showmanship and customer service you just don’t see anymore. I’ve been to a lot of Mexican Resturants while I’ve had a few better but that isn’t to say by any means was the food bad because it was not the food was good. Everything was fresh made to order authentic Mexican food you love done the right way. We came here for the 1st time. We as Mexicans had been trying several Mexican restaurants in the metro Detroit area and this is an honest review.

The place is okay, it has space for @30 people max, when we arrived was at 19:30 hrs and was almost empty. This is only a "taqueria" with no store as other taco places. We ordered tacos al pastor (marinated pork), we rate this taco with a 7.5, the issue is the guacamole which is not fresh and you never add guacamole into a pastor taco. The other taco we tried was the carne asada (steak), this was also a 7.5. The main issue are the salsas, they don't have any flavor at all, not even the spicy one. The salsa is really important can be the difference between a good taco and an average taco. Another point are the prices, each taco is $5.00. This place is really NOT good. The tacos pork tacos were cold (and we dined in!) - it maybe had decent texture and flavor, bust honestly couldn’t get past the cold meat. The queso tasted just like melted America cheese, the beans have probably your salt content for the month, the salsa was very sub par, the rice was not even edible, and the steak nachos looked and tasted more like mystery meat. We were very disappointed. The decor is cute, but the tables are dirty. Don’t even try to be allergy friendly. I watched them pour cheese on the cheese free fajitas and then try pulling it off to serve anyway, then loaded the fajita side plate with additional cheese.
