You normally would not think of a Bubble Tea spot as a place to hang out and enjoy quality time while at the same time enjoying a variety of good teas. This little gem opened up very recently in Rochester Hills and I'm envious its not close by where I live. Nonetheless it is worth the 25 minute drive if you would like to have some quality good bubble tea with made from scratch fresh boba swimming in delicious and well made tea. The place is very tastefully decorated and sets itself apart from any other such joints including a couple of TVs with the choice of streaming your own music or shows if you'd like to hang out with a few friends. The tapioca balls I've normally experienced are hard and tasteless instead of being bouncy chewy and soaked in the flavors of the tea. So when I started chewing on my first mouthful I was so pleasantly surprised that the tapioca was soft, enjoyably chewy and had soaked in the flavors of the tea I was drinking. Turns out the store owners believe in cooking their boba/tapioca balls fresh on a daily basis and I sure hope they continue doing that as this makes such a huge difference in the product they're selling. Job well done! They have a variety of teas and also slushies. Loved their Zo's Signature Tea as also the purple colored milk based Boba tea. My 12 year old tried something that I was hesitant but was super surprised at how good it turned out to be - Cookies n Cream milk tea with Chocolate Popping Pearls, yum!
The place is extremely clean, very welcoming for hangouts with friends and I wouldn't be surprised to see this become a popular hangout spot for teens and adults alike. One interesting twist - they actually had samosas on sale along with the sweet teas. I thought it was an excellent idea to include something savory to go with the sweet teas! I'll be heading back here more often in the future and wish them all the best given our ongoing...
Read moreWhat a great place to have so close to home. I stopped in for the first time today. The tea was excellent. Good flavor, not too sweet, with perfectly crafted boba. The cups are great. They are slightly rounded at the bottom which makes them really nice to hold and of course they are all sealed up with the real deal sealing film. I'll be working my way through the variety all summer long. If you are a bubble tea fan or looking for a new treat, I highly recommend you give Zo's a try.'
Update I really hate to amend this review. My first experience at Zo's was great but I haven't had a good experience since. The last 4 visits, Zo's has not had the Tapioca bubbles prepared. They've explained that it takes an hour to make them but if the name of your business is Zo's Bubble Tea, I would expect that your "bubble tea" is ready to serve when you open. Today I placed an order at noon, an hour after they opened, and still no bubbles ready :(. I guess it's time to find a new bubble tea spot that can actually serve...
Read moreDrinks were ok, the employee was hostile. We left laughing about how ridiculous the entire experience was. Also - I do not recommend visiting if you have any sort of dietary restriction that gives you a reason to ask what is in your drink because they absolutely will not tell you what is in their beverages. A common issue for people who cannot have dairy is that non-dairy creamer usually comes with sodium caseinate in it which is a dairy protein. They kept telling me they use non-dairy creamer but would not tell me what kind of non-dairy creamer it was or let me see the ingredients outside of insisting that it was non-dairy powder so it was safe. I have never seen a product advertised as powdered non-dairy creamer that did not have dairy in it and we've been looking for years. It would have been great if they just let people know what was in this non-dairy creamer and made the experience much less worrying. I obviously wasn't standing there trying to order at the counter so that I could go home and...
