Revolution Taproom & Grill in Rochester, NH for a few excellent pours & a burger on a Sunday afternoon. Over the last year I've had a handful of people recommend checking these guys out because of the good rotating tap list so I figured it was time. I was not disappointed when I got there, whoever puts together the beer list does a great job. With a really good mix of styles & breweries I was able to find a few you don't see a ton out in the wild. There was your normal New England staples as well like LUNCH from Maine Beer Co. & IPA from Stoneface Brewing Co, but I took advantage of some of the different styles offered. π»π»π₯β
I started off with a pint of the DOWN THE HATCH Red Ale from Corner Point Brewing Company, it was made with green chilies, but had no heat. It was good, but I was hoping for at least a little heat & spiciness on the finish. My second pour was the LA CHOUFFE BLONDE Strong Ale from Chouffe which was delicious & layered with flavor, dangerously drinkable for 8%ABV. The last beer I scooped was the SUGAR MOON - BOURBON Scotch Ale from Hobbs Brewing Company that was the winner of the visit. With my recent affinity for Wee Heavies & Scotch Ale I was definitely happy to have another really good one on tap. π»π»ππ₯
The 8oz Spicy Barrel Burger I got was delicious with a really good jalapeno bacon jam, pepper jack cheese, organic lettuce, tomato & red onion on a potato bun. It all held together well, I took off a bit of the lettuce since a ton came on it & then devoured it, probably embarrassing so. All the seating options here including tables, hightops, a big bar & patio area outside. The bartender Ethan was really friendly & accommodating & they do flights if you wanted to try a bunch. Overall a great place to check out if you're looking for something with a fun tap list covering a ton of styles. π»π»π₯βββ₯οΈπΊ

Β Β Β Read moreThe place has potential but it would need more mannered and knowledgeable staff. We went for dinner for two last Saturday, place is nice, weather was with us so we chose to sit on the patio. And from then, it only went downhill. Our waitress couldn't be bothered to smile. At all, the entire evening. She handed over the menus and asked:"Drinks?" As they have a large choice of tap beers, I asked what she would recommend for a lager. She looked up the card and advised a pilsner, which I politely raise to her attention that it wasn't a lager. She rolled her eyes up and said: "It is golden, right? So it is similar." At this moment, I gave up asking for her advice and ordered the first lager on the menu. My wife asked a question about one of their cocktail and the waitress answered she did not drink cocktail so couldn't help. Long story short, we ordered our drinks and two starters, dumplings and truffle french fries. We got our drinks in less than ten minutes but it took more than 30 minutes for the starters to come and the place was far from being crowded. Truffle french fries are no better than McDonald's french fries but they're priced $9 a pop. Dumplings on the other hand were excellent. When the waitress finally decided to come and check on us after another 30 minutes, we asked for another dumplings starter and order second round of drinks. Again, drinks came in a timely manner but it took ages for the starter to come.we ate the dumplings and the waitress was again nowhere to be seen for quite a while. When she finally showed up we had enough and asked for the bill, which took an extra 20 minutes to come. Altogether, first time and last time at Revolution, way over-rated as food is overpriced and service clearly optional. Won't visit again and will not...
Β Β Β Read moreI came with a group of friends (6 of us total) on a Friday night at 7pm. We were seated promptly outside. It was the perfect September evening so we were excited to be able to enjoy the outside area.
The Hancock pizza we ordered for the table was the first to come out since that is prepared in the wood fired oven. The Neapolitan style had a super thin crust and beautiful char. We loved that they use the pepperonis that turn into lil cups when cooked.
I was able to also try the Thai chicken tenders (SO tender and delicious), the Brussel sprouts (a lil greasy, could have been crispier but I liked the addition of the almonds for texture, otherwise they would have been just too soft), and the Korean pork bao buns (the bun was a lil dry/could have been softer).
For my main dish, I ordered the spicy barrel burger. The patty was perfectly cooked (medium) but the bun was different/not like than other potato buns I've had (which was a lil disappointing). They also have Revolution Fries ($1 more, comes with cajun aioli), Hipster Fries ($2 cajun style), Parm fries ($2 with parm and garlic), and truffle fries ($3 truffle oil). I asked if they could add parm + garlic to the truffle, which since I was paying the most to upgrade to the truffle fries, you'd think this could be done, but the server said no. I tried a friend's parm fries and wish I had gone with those instead.
Our group had a great time. When we got the bill, we felt the value for money was really good, and the food had come out pretty quickly. The live music and lighting was perfect outside. Parking is free and plentiful in downtown Rochester so we would consider coming back again! It's super cool how the menu has Asian influenced menu items - love...
