I've been eating there since 2007, tonight was the last time I'll ever go in there again. Old Salt Seafood Combo is my plate of choice. Clams are getting smaller and fewer. Time before that same problem...never again!! Onion rings are thin little nothings...$7 for ten rings...for christ sake .. I went back today to talk to the manager to tell them i've never received the gift certificate they were going to send, to ask why. They said he never said that.. I said well, why did he ask for my name and address? The owner then went on to try to explain why the clams were so small. She said they come in buckets, and we never know what size they are?? I thought that was odd, because when they serve the plate to you, there's almost always the same amount of clams in each plate about a half dozen. So they go out of their way to give you just the amount they choose, but they don't look at the size of the clams. So you may end up with six very tiny little nickel size clams, or you might get lucky and end up with six very large sized clams. I said, if you're serving a bucket of small clams, how about you add twice as many clams, after all im paying $35 for those clams!! I said lady, would you like to see pictures of the plate?
They had no intention of sending me a gift certificate for my bad experience because of this review that I told them I posted the day of the dinner nightmare. He said, well, I don't feel like I should do anything for you now that you left negative feedback. I said I can always edit my review, I was madder now , I replied I don't give a shit how you feel you wernt ripped off $ 90. I drove away. Look, take the extra 20 minutes drive to Sanford and go to the Lords clam bar. You'll be glad you did. The days of the attitude where the customer is right so do right by them, is long gone. SAD PLACE IT'S TURNED INTO, BAD GREEDY PEOPLE !! WHAT COMES AROUND...
Read moreVery surprised since we had been here twice before and not had an issue. We had an older lady with short white hair as our waitress, i believe her name was Diane but I could be mistaken, her attitude left a lot to be desired. She brought barely enough bread for all of us (we had two tables combined for a large party and got one table's worth of bread), the bread was also late too and took a while to get. She was rude trying to get our attention when handing out platters. When she brought our food she got an attitude, mixed up some of our platters and got short when we tried to correct her. My wife looked at her dish which was supposed to be a special, but it was the plain sandwich. We asked her and she again got short and said we were supposed to tell her it was the special even though we told the waitress exactly what was written on the specials board. We then saw a worm on the lettuce. The sandwich was remade and it was remade as the special, but both when she took the worm sandwich and when she brought the new one she kept remarking it wasn't her fault and she couldn't control that and it wasn't her fault, almost like she was begging us to not ding her tip because of it. After most of our party finished she visited our table twice before asking about the desserts that come with the senior dishes (which we had four seniors in our group) and she looked irritated asking about it, slamming some of the dishes down when she brought them out. Then when she brought us our total, we went up to pay and our total was $12 higher than the receipt we were given. We assumed maybe it was a discount for the worm on the sandwich, to which the waitress said there was no reason for a discount and we were told we owed the extra amount. Last time we'll be...
Read moreWe have eaten at Windjammers several times as it is very close to our house and my wife’s family has always lived near the coast of Maine and takes their seafood very seriously. They have never had a complaint about the quality of seafood or the portion sizes at Windjammers. Most recently my wife and I went for dinner. We decided last-minute, so we had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. The waiting/takeout area is fairly small, but their transponders work as far out as the parking lot, so most diners just waited in their cars until it lit up. The server was attentive and came by several times to make sure our needs were met, though it was a girly busy dinner service. We had no problems with our meal and my wife was very happy with the market price scallops once I convinced her to splurge and get them. The server did not read the specials, but we were sitting right next to the sign listing them, and we told her we were ready to order when she asked, so I wouldn’t read much into that. Overall, this restaurant is our go-to seafood place when we want to kick it up a notch but stay close to home. They somehow kept the lights on during the 2020 shutdown and we reward them with our business more than most of the local places for a “treat yo self”...
