Only go here if you wanna pay for overpriced, WEAK drinks! I ordered a whiskey sour. The bill came and they charged me an extra $2 for the sour mix (never in my life have I seen this done before) AND they charged me for a double, even though I didn’t order a double. When I spoke to the manager she said this is their standard pour, and they’ve always done it this way. So they basically don’t even let you get just a regular drink. She said that since I drank it I have to pay for it. I find it ridiculous I had to pay for something I didn’t even order. What should have been a $12 drink was a $20 drink. And if they actually served me a double like they said, it should have tasted like a double. The manager was extremely rude and disrespectful, and pretty much just told us we had pay for it even though we didn’t order it. If you’re going to serve and charge people for doubles as your standard pour you should say it...
Read moreTavern on the Rocks has been a staple in Rockaway Borough for years but their Corned Beef Reuben is one of the best food items I’ve consumed in quite some time. The bread was fresh, toasted to perfection, and held everything together without getting soggy. The homemade Russian dressing added just the right amount of tang to balance the richness of the corned beef. The Swiss cheese and pickles sat on the bread perfectly and left me wanting more. The portion size was beyond generous and quite frankly, I left the bar feeling like we were under charged for a meal of that stature. Make sure you make your way over during the St. Paddy’s festivities and go back again the shamrocks disappear because their everyday menu is...
Read moreBeware of trying to come here if you’ve never been before. My husband and I moved to the area recently and came here to have a date night in our new neighborhood. Immediately a man came up to check our ID’s, mind you we are 27 but obviously understood. Next the bartender came up and asked to check our ID’s again, saying it was abnormal that we were from out of state and taking our licenses with her after asking a few questions. Finally another woman came up and said they would not serve us because our ID’s “wouldn’t scan on multiple machines”. We’ve taken flights within the last month and know for sure that our licenses are valid. Just doesn’t seem that they are welcoming to new people at tavern...
