City Buffet — Restaurant in Rockford Township

City Buffet in Rockford IL: was by far one of the worst "buffets" my family and i have ate at!!! We went to City Buffet for lunch today, it was about noon. There was no wait, they were not terribly busy, in fact they were not busy at all... yet most of the food bins in the buffet were Empty! Leaving the options Very limited! When i go to a buffet I expect choices, variety, to return to our table with my plate overflowing with delicious food because I couldn't resist the selection in front of me. This buffet didn't have much of a selection at all. There was no dessert options and not too much for kids to choose from. The few choices they did have were not heated properly! The food was not hot, it wasn't even warm..it was COLD! The soup was even cold. The soda was flat & definitely needed to be replaced before serving. I'd like to say the customer service made up for it a bit, however it Didn't. They were just "hanging out and chatting" while the Buffet sat Cold and nearly Empty. They were rude and didn't seem to mind that there was pretty much nothing left on the buffet. When we brought the cold food to their attention our server shrugged her shoulders and walked away without a word. I will not be returning to this establishment nor will I be recommending anyone to eat here. We are very disappointed with our lunch experience at City...

By far the worst buffet food ever! How do they even stay in business? The meat on the stick was sat out all day, dried up like jerky sitting underneath the heating lamps, the broccoli was so soggy it was just nasty! The doughnut holes was stale and hard, jello was even hard like chewing on a gummy worm. There's not much of a selection either. Fried shrimps were even cold! Fruits had little knats flying around it and it was all landing on the watermelons and the hard pineapples. Bottom line, everything was super horrible and nasty!!! Not sanitary at all! I felt like I was eating left over table scraps, nothing was fresh. I have been there twice thinking the 2nd time around would have fresh food but "oh no"... Thought maybe it was just a bad day for them, my fault for even thinking that. Not once did they bring out any fresh food while everything was old and almost empty and it was around 5pm. I paid almost $16.00 for straight up nasty garbage! Atleast lower the prices if they are going to serve old stale food. I forced myself to eat it cause I didn't want to waste my money and luckily I didn't end up getting food poisoning. Do NOT go there unless you want to get sick or risk getting food poisoning. You have been warned. I should have went to Golden Corral.. Never coming back there ever again unless they get...

I don't speak for everyone else but to me personally city buffet is the Greatest Place to have Lunch. It's all depends on the day,time,hour. Especially if you want everything fresh and they made sure I was satisfied. Me and my friend always have fun while we are enjoying our food in this place and the waitresses are extremely nice and Respectful. My favorite is the crab casserole and the rice noodles and egg rolls whew it makes me want to get up and go there right now when I think about lol but anyway. My advice to you is this the earlier you get there the better you get quality service and if you can spare some change and make sure you give them a great tip if you can because maybe that's why the reviews wouldn't be so negative because you done made the waitresses feel un-appreciated after their hard work for trying to make you feel happy and they don't get anything in return and trust and believe things will be different...
