I think this rating may improve if I went more often, but as a first impression, it wasn't anything spectacular when the prices were certainly indicating it should be. Our waitress was lovely and friendly, but seemed a little hurried and distracted. The Ahi tuna appetizer was bland...I am a huge fan of Ahi tuna seared with the sizzling crispness on the outside and packed full of flavor on the inside. This just didn't have that flavor and freshness I am used to. The friend bacon appetizer was interesting and tasty-I have not had something like that before (breaded bacon slices dipped in chocolate -probably best I don't have it too often as I would die). I got the salmon Oscar...this also was lacking in some flavor but it was cooked to perfection which is a major key to getting salmon right. And luckily a hollandaise sauce was included that made up for the flavor. My mom got lamb and was immensely pleased with it. Our family friend ordered the fish tacos. Decent, but she did comment that she thought they'd be much better grilled than fried. Cocktails were decent, Mai Tai and Cucumber Cosmo martini were fun things to enjoy during the Easter Saturday lunch. Overall, would recommend as the atmosphere and service were good and the presentation of the food was incredible, but the food was just not up to my expectations. This might change if I try more items on the menu.

Delicious Menu! Looks like someone did their due diligence on the menu and what would make this place so different. I just have to say, I went there for the first time after hearing for the umpteenth time that it was a little pricey but the service and food is excellent. Well, I thought to myself that I wouldn’t mind paying a little extra, as long as I can honestly say that the service, and most importantly, the FOOD is that good. So, this is my review... from the time I walked in, to leaving, I had one of the best experiences. I came out smiling. One thing that threw me off what the stripper joint across the driveway. I pictured Tavern On Clark differently. But it’s so out of the way. This place is clean, friendly and very well taken care of. Savanah was our server in the bar. She was hilarious and walked us through the menu and gave us some suggestions. She took her time with us too. We had a rib eye sandwich and I had the turkey sandwich which were in the lunch menu. To start off, we had the OMG fried bacon with chocolate dip and the warm Brie. Delectable. And what I love is that this place is so chill, you can come in dressed up or casual, there’s no difference. 👍🏼

We made a stop at Tavern on Clark on a Friday night at 8:40. We were greeted immediately and seated quickly. I was excited to see a pepper grinder on the table. Yep, that gets me super hype! My husband chose a burger that had sautéed mushrooms and onions, plus Swiss and cheddar cheese. The burger came with curled potatoes and cole slaw. I had a few bites, and the burger was juicy and delicious. The order I placed was not quite as successful. I got the linguine. It was supposed to have olive oil, garlic, lemon butter, basil and parmesan. What it tasted like was linguine drowning in plain, butter. Like what you feed a 4 year old. Simply put, it was tasteless, maybe because I choose to not get a protein added to the dish. My dish came with a small side salad. It was well appointed but the giant amount of dressing that was provided on the side was laughable. It probably could've dressed a salad for 10 people. The atmosphere and service were flawless. I would absolutely come back here again. Next time, I'll ask the waitress what she recommends!

Dinner at Tavern on Clark was very good this evening. We sat on the small patio, which is on the sunny side of the building, so sunglasses were required most of our time there. The food was excellent. The French Onion soup was flavorful, without being too salty. The side salad was made with a mix of greens, which is so superior to chopped iceberg that others use. The Ruben sandwich is huge, loaded with flavorful corned beef. The Chicken Marsala had a wonderful sauce. The chicken was thick and juicy. The Asperagus and smashed red potatoes with parm, were a great accompaniment. The grilled Salmon Salad was prepared well with a great dressing to tie it together. Service was a bit slow, but we did appear to be our server's only outside table. The food was Wonderful, service a tad slow, but not horrible. The patio was very sunny and hot for dinner service and was nothing special, compared to some others in town. So come for the food and chose inside dining, if it is a sunny summer evening.

Stumbled on this place through a random search of Rockford restaurants and was so glad I did. This place far exceeded our expectations. The first impression is not the best because it is across the street from an exotic dance club, but once you get past that you can enjoy yourself. The service was great, even during a busy time. We went in Sunday when there were 4 dollar bloody marys. A solid bloody mary. My wife tried some of their other cocktails and was very happy (good lost of unique cocktails). The lobster tacos were really well done and tasted great. The French onion soup came as a side and was very good. I had the chicken and waffles and the only complaint is they used chicken tenders instead of real fried chicken. It felt like I was eating a kids meal. Now the last thing I will say is that my friend (who is an established eater) had the tomato bisque soup and he said it was hands down the best soup he has ever had. I will drive the hour and a half to try that soup.

Me and my mother went here recently. She ordered the special of that day- a fish fry, beer battered cod. She said it was good, cripsy on the outside while still tender on the outside. I ordered the Widowmaker Burger. It was certainly good- it had a nice, large patty, it wasn't soggy, and was impressively lacking in grease. However, I felt like the ingredients weren't distributed very well, and that the flavors were somewhat drowned out by the sheer amount of bread. The service is very good- Julia was very kind, always ensuring we were having a good experience, and made sure to refill drinks frequently enough without being overbearing. The atmosphere was nice, warm. But the problem occurred about halfway through our visit, where, for some reason, they turned the volume of the music so high it was almost painful, but mostly just irritating. All in all though, it's pretty good restaurant I you're looking for something just a bit nicer for a change.
